After i took this shot i thought it would be a good idea to move the mattress to the wall behind me and hopefully get a better shot but as soon as i touched it i heard a buzzing noise. At first i though it was coming from outside the window but then i realized it was the mattress! And then a couple of bees flew out. It sounded like there were hundreds in there. I left the room for a while and let them calm down and they never bothered me. I've also seen bats in this room but not this day. I think they may have been hiding in the dark space between the original ceiling and the lowered ceiling.

It was a cold night and I was getting a bit tired. And then this came into view. Tempting....

Many years ago dubbed "the Beirut" end of town. Still a bit scruffy around the edges and offers plenty of opportunities to explore.
This is an exposure time I rarely go to lately - about three minutes @ iso200 on account of no street lighting. Fortunately the full moon blasted down onto the exposure for about a minute before it clouded over again - and a car turned it's headlights onto the roller door to the right for a few seconds. Kismetic moments like these are wonderful, as though the world around you is contributing actively to your creation. Unfortunately, the reverse is so often the case.
I found a place that stored 40 or 50 mattresses outside, behind a warehouse. They were subject to all weather conditions, and they smelled very, very bad. I saw no princesses or peas around either.
I loved to create detail in every part of my designs. I couldn't just have a white mattress, I had to create a ticking pattern on the fabric and I made the tiny polymer clay buttons.
For some odd reason Olean never did get any mattresses to sell.

The old Rockford Clock Tower Resort has been demolished. It was cool walking around and seeing this abandoned resort. The water park might be saved but I doubt it.
