With hunger and thirst quenched, but still intrigued by the scent of perfume, and with everything else around me, I decided to walk towards the building I had seen when I arrived. I had seen the "Motel" sign and that meant there would be rooms with beds to sleep in. I really had to rest even if it was just one night. I was tired and feeling the effects of the "Mojito" (I exaggerated the amount of the Run lol), I managed to find the "Motel".
It was a slightly dilapidated building, with an architectural mix of a building from the old west movies, and with some similarities to certain tropical places I've been to throughout my travels around the world. But I didn't care what the building looked like, I just wanted to find a room that had a shower and not even a mattress mattered... The effects of the "Mojito" were getting stronger.
I noticed that there were rooms on the ground floor and the 1st floor, but unfortunately for me, the rooms on the ground floor had their doors locked... yes, they had beds... but I didn't feel good about myself if I had to I had to break down a door, so I looked for a way to get to the top floor, I discovered some access stairs... maybe I would have better luck finding a room upstairs.

An old mattress left on the footpath of a suburban street. The council has already been and tagged it with hazard tape and a sign threatening a $5K fine. I suspect the dumper has already moved out of the area.

hilarious and awkward moment this morning: already 80 degrees at 7 a.m. and sticking to the alleys for shade while walking the dogs - I hear someone say "good morning" - not sure where the voice was coming from or if it was intended for me. Then I see a sleeper sofa under a carport - a man under some sheets - it was like he set up his bedroom outside - complete with nightstand. He tried to guess the breeds of our 3 dogs and acted like this was a perfectly normal social interaction. Just when you've think you've seen it all....

This company, founded in 1926, still exists but manufactures its mattresses only in BC. Tax Assessment information suggests that the building is owned by CNR railroad and is located on "contaminated soil." It is taxed as a "warehouse."

Steve B. felt the world didn't need another mattress store, but what is a discount furniture store without them. There will be a large stack of them next to the bedroom set I've completed.

what if i tattooed "stay" upon my freckled skin
what if i looked at that word enough times in a day
that it lost all its meaning and quickly turned into a small mess
of letters that made me forget the times
that i scratched the word into your back and kissed it onto your lips
while the bus driver waited for me to load my bags
what if i wrote "stay" on the badly beaten hardwood door
or upon the softest red petals of the roses you gave me
for the pictures we took on the coldest day on the side of a hill
what if i had never let you walk through the gates
at the airport as i cried behind the wall of glass above you
what if i breathed "stay" into your ear one day sooner
when i still wanted to know your favorite songs
and i thought you wanted to learn mine
what if i said it aloud when i would have given the world
to help your mother with thanksgiving dinner
to keep making jokes with your brothers
and talking cars with your dad
what if you pleaded "stay" when i said i couldn't
what if you reminded me that you were the only one brave enough
to tell me you loved me, and even if you didn't mean it
at least your pride didn't take precedence
what if you had run after me like you promised you would
when you were still trying to win me over with sweet words
and little white lies
what if we had painted "stay" onto the sheets of the hotel mattress
on the other side of the world beside the place
we wrote our names on the marble dome above the city
what if we had left everything we knew behind
and chose to speak in another language
in the city that lovers call home
what if we had never stepped foot on that plane
what if "stay" was the word we said to each other
instead of being content with just another goodbye
because somewhere, "stay" is still tattooed on our bodies
and i'm here, trying to forget that we couldn't
