Lier is a Belgian city located in the province of Antwerp. The city is said to have been founded in the 11th century. In 1212, the Duke of Brabant Henri I granted an urban charter to the inhabitants. The fourteenth century was a period of prosperity for the city: construction of a cloth hall in 1367, a belfry in 1369 and a second rampart in 1389. The prosperity of the city was based on the drapery industry and on the existence of a cattle market, which had been granted to it by the Dukes of Brabant.
De Fortuin (The Fortune) was probably built in the 17th century and adapted in the 18th century. It was used first as a grain store, then as a coal depot, lemonade factory, cabinetmaker’s workshop and town warehouse.
The weather vane represents the goddess Fortuna with the horn of plenty.

"M.⸱AGRIPPA⸱L⸱F⸱COS⸱TERTIVM⸱FECIT". For some reason I remember the translation as Marcus Agrippa, son of Lucius, who was Consul for three times built this. It is utter lies: it was built by Trajan, replacing an earlier structure that was built by Marcus Agrippa.

Did it not occur to you that you were going to hurt me.?
Did you not stop and think before you let the words slip?
Was I that worthless to you?
Did I honestly mean so little that you had to hurt me?
Was she more important?
Why did I believe?
Why did it hurt me so much?
Why did I not walk away before you opened your mouth?
Why did I think I actually meant something to you?
Why couldn't you love me like I loved you...?
What makes her so special....?
I'm sick of the lies,
sick of the tears,
but most of sick of NOT UNDERSTANDING Why this happened?
How it happened...what I did wrong?
Was it because I cared to much? I thought it was only right to care...
I guess it isn't in your books...my bad I guess..
They always say the "right guy" will treat you like a princess.
But only for so long...
Where did that guy go? What happened to him?
Did she take him away? Did she turn him into a liar and coward?
Into someone who was a complete stranger to me...
I want the truth. I don't want another one of your lies.
Will I ever get it...?
