Literally lying down on the two way road that heads to the Park exit, this is an Aparture mode shot. The red colour of the road and the bright yellow line was washed by rain the previous day, so they are clean and vibrant. Truely I don't know what I wanted there. These type of road shots are popular, have seen some in flickr too. Let me know the flaws or how you like this. Well I was between the two yellows, so I was safe, from the cars, not from Park Rangers. :-)

One thing almost everybody knows about Key West is that it's the southernmost point in the United States. There's a fancy marker indicating the point at the southern end of Whitehead Street, where tourists stand in line for a chance to shoot pictures of each other. We did it. The line took about 10 minutes.
The thing is, though, that this is not, in fact, the southernmost point in the United States. The southernmost point is actually on the Big Island of Hawaii. But this isn't even the southernmost point in the contiguous states. That's on Ballast Key, a private island 10 miles southwest of Key West.
This marker isn't even the southernmost point on Key West. That's a point on a naval installation visible here in the background that reaches about 800 feet farther into the Gulf. The southernmost point open to the public is just west of the naval base, in a state park dedicated to an old fort (which we did not visit). And the southernmost point at the end of Whitehead Street? That's the yard of a house just behind where the guy who took this picture was standing. This marker isn't even the southernmost point on the sidewalk marking the southernmost point. This marker we stood next to? This was a marker of lies.
