Chasing away the January blues, and getting my camera out again, on a crisp, cold & sunny January day!

We managed to get out for a couple of hours this afternoon.

All the benches and tables outside the pubs along the quay, have been rendered out of bounds to prevent gatherings, during this lockdown.

Für 'ne günstige Lumix von 2016 mit China-Speedbooster und alten Kit-Nikkoren find ich die Bildqualität richtig gut :-)
A couple of shots merged together. I'm trying to work out how to use some of the settings on the Lumix GX80 (in particular struggling with the manual focus!).

I had a bit of a look around the RNLI complex area. I've passed it lots of times but never walked around the area (I wasn't sure if it was open to the public).
All quiet today, so took a few shots. I think this is actually the back of ASDA, which is next to the RNLI.

Lunchtime walk in Bournemouth Gardens. It's been so wet and dull, that this is the first chance I've had to get some autumn photos before the leaves fall. There may not be too many leaves left, but the colours are amazing at this time of year.

Poole Quay early evening, bonfire night. Fireworks are on later!
I didn't have a tripod with me so rested the camera on a big dustbin!

A second visit to the annual lights festival. These are all hand held, as the wind had picked up again tonight.
The community chandelier, I found this really hard to photograph as it was blowing in the wind!

The North West of Scotland overlooking the Atlantic Ocean is a fine place in all seasons whether storm or sun.
In summer we enjoy long days of daylight, a few miles up the coast from where I took this photo is Cape Wrath at 58° 38’ North which is the highest latitude of mainland Britain.
I have friends that stay on the island of Unst in the Shetland archipelago. The latitude of their home is 60° 48’ North which is further north than Helsinki at 60° 19’ North or Oslo at 59° 91’ North.
The Shetland Islands is of course nearer to Norway than it is to Britain. My friends on Unst enjoy much longer days of sunshine in summer – on June 21st this year for example they will enjoy a tad shy of nineteen hours of daylight compared to 18 hours at my home on the mainland.
Fireworks take two, tonight Bournemouth summer fireworks. I used the newish Lumix for these, with mixed results.
Stopped off on the way back at Moor Crichel, this is the River Allen a bit more full up than usual.

Three from Sandbanks this afternoon. It looks like they were setting up for a beach volleyball event!

I'm still managing to keep up with my photo a day project, but it's not easy fitting it around work.
This is another location on the "selfie wall trail" around Bournemouth and Poole seafront. The artist is Miroslav Lucan.
I thought these ladies wanted to do a selfie, but they just wanted to sit down and didn't want to get in the way of my shot. I think they maybe sisters!
