Yes if you are looking for them you will not find them or they are just flying away or are not sitting down, let them sit on the wall of my balcony and he had all the time :-)
I moved overseas a couple of times with work - sometimes you strike lucky, and sometimes you strike very lucky.
We managed to bag the rental of this just-refurbished 100 year old apartment in the Champel district of Geneva which came with original parquet floors, French-style doors, and what I seem to remember as a 12 foot curtain drop. The lift too was in the old open French style. We were lucky because plenty of Swiss were hankering after it, but the owner clearly decided the company I worked for had deeper pockets and would be a better credit risk.
This was taken in 2005 - not too long before we would up sticks again and move to the US Deep South. So out went the smart suits and ties, and in came the short sleeves and khaki slacks - much more my style.
Inevitably you adapt your lifestyle to a new environment and I did miss a lot of things about Switzerland, yet oddly the most enduring one was my daily commute on the number 3 trolley bus.

Il y a des jours comme celui-ci, où tu vas faire un coucher de soleil après le boulot sans savoir que la nature à décidée de te faire un très beau cadeau.
Je suis retourné beaucoup de fois sur ce spot mais je n'ai pas retrouvé ces mêmes conditions. Le niveau de l’océan était trop bas pour donner vie à ces algues si photogéniques...
Pour ceux qui connaissent, la digue tout au fond de l'image c'est le port de Sainte-Marie.

A White Ibis catch with what appears to me to be a small crab. As travel to Florida is not an option at this time, I am glad that I still have photos from previous trips that I can post to mix things up on my stream. Taken in Southwest Florida.

... which I mentioned on the previous post. It was one of those sunny and special days. Inserted in a landscape of extreme beauty, this small island marked an unforgettable time in my life.
The kids had kayaks and I had fun with them too, surfing those waves on the side of the island. I spent hours and hours in the sea. Couldn't have enough. And I also did the island/land crossing by swimming. It wasn't a very long distance, but there were strong currents. Delightful memories. I am lucky to have them. Just remembering. Thank you for reading me ☺️

While stopped in Dyersburg, Tennessee for a quick bit of sandwich making on the way to a Florida vacation, me and the fam stumbled across this: TKEN GP28 9435 shares time with a CN local as the crew shoves a cut of hoppers back into the yard. We even caught a brief bit of sun after a morning full of healthy thunderstorms. Better lucky than good.

I was going to name this 'Black Cat on Ice' but I chose Lucky. He is a feral cat hunting the shoreline of a reservoir where Eagles soar and fish. He is probably going after the entrails the eagles left behind.
He is Lucky because the eagles haven't swooped down and selected him for prey!
(I feel extremely lucky in my life since I'm born...
..but I'm wondering if it's real or just a perception of life)

Today is my lucky day (it is St. Patrick's Day after all) I am always on the lookout for owls, especially owls peeking out from a tree nest cavity. I can't tell you how many empty holes I have checked out over the years. At long last I found a pair of eyes looking back at me! He only stayed for a few moments before ducking down out of sight.

Bit of a shock compared to Hampshire but I am lucky enough to be working in Iceland for a week. Heavy snow, then glorious sunshine and then around that corner a snow storm ( or light flurry if you are Icelandic). Prepared to be bored everybody.
A lucky day for a Cedar Waxwing. Since the waxwings flock feed this youngster was feeling good that this entire branch of berries was all his.

I used to carry this around more often but I am afraid of losing it these days. This was an old key chain that my father had. I think it was a 1967 nickel in the plastic. It has seen better days.
