Seven-spotted ladybug (also called ladybird)
"The ladybug is considered the messenger of heaven from the mother of god. He should protect the children and heal the sick when he comes to them. However, you must never shake it off or even kill it, otherwise you will attract misfortune.
The name Ladybird also points to this: Because of their usefulness for agriculture, the farmers believed that the beetles were a gift from Mary (mother of Jesus) and named them after her. The seven-spotted ladybird is called "Maria's key maid" in Sweden. The seven points are said to refer to the seven virtues of Saint Mary."

This is the first ladybug that I photographed this year. He has just fueled energy from the sun. That's why he looks so lucky ;) HMM!
Male goldfinches fly upwards facing one another; I cannot count the times I've tried to capture their vertical flights. This I found (among several thousand photos shot this past week) while focusing on the female redwing, above.

I could lie and say I sat and waited for this and shot it through the viewfinder with skill , but the truth is that I knew I couldn't get in place quick enough but hadn't seen this colour before so sht it off the back screen once I thought it was in focus.

Eurasian Magpie [pica pica]
An opportunistic shoot, today...I went shopping, and this guy and his partner were hanging around outside a shop, on the grass, during a lovely, sunny interlude.
Having been rushing around stores during my lunch break, this encounter made me slow right down. He was hopping around, unconcerned at my presence and even seemed to pose for the camera, a couple of times. He reminded me of a male model, so I’ve decided to call this image, Lucky Blue, after famous young American model, Lucky Blue Smith.
I have always loved magpies, but only very recently did I become aware of the amazing array of colours on their wings and tails. A very intelligent bird, it can recognise it’s own reflection in a mirror!

I might be superstitious but I believe items can bring luck.

On our way back from photographing a boat at the Superior entry, I took the long way home thinking there might be a shot potential at Allouez as a loaded ore train had arrived a few hours earlier and might be near the County A road crossing if not already dumping. It was raining when we arrived but the sky cleared after 10 minutes and a double rainbow appeared over the DP GE. Not the best looking unit (I've seen worse), but I'll certainly take the scene.
Among the ruins of Preah Khan, she sold lucky charms, the colored strings she's wearing on her wrist. Angkor, Siem Reap, Cambodia.
I picked this one out of the whole bunch...HBW again :)

Lucky is a very happy dog, full of playful energy. I talked to her during the photo shoot, and she responded by tilting her head from side to side. So charming!
