I met Daniel and Carolle on a tour of Lucayan National Park and Gold Rock Beach. They are originally from Haiti and now live in New Jersey. They have visited the Bahamas 5 times but have never been to Gold Rock Beach before.

This is best on video but there were beautiful reflections on the cieling. I wonder what that stuff is on the water. Algea perhaps.

The cave system is connected by water, but visitors have to walk through the park to get from cave to cave. Here is a bit of what that looked like.

Grand Bahama.

Count Bazie n'a jamais été Bahaméen. Le nom de cette place qui accueil des concerts tous les soir à Port Lucaya est un hommage au musicien qui s'était offert une belle villa sur l'ile de Grand Bahama.

Port Lucaya Marketplace seen through the bus window before returning to Freeport. It rained off and on all day and the marketplace wasn't very busy.

This postage stamp was issued by the Bahamas on 17 March 1992 (= Scott Catalogue # 749). It marks the 500th anniverary of the discovery of the New World by Christopher Columbus in 1492. The stamp depicts Lucayan people on San Salvador Island (Watling's Island; Guanahani) sighting Columbus' ships on the horizon.
