I expected part of the fall to be frozen. A little disapointing, but there was enough that WAS frozen to satisfy me.
The Hollins family managed the mills for many years, but from the 1830s were joined by the Pagets, who introduced steam power to the mills. Fire destroyed the Upper Mill on 25 December 1840, but it was rebuilt by 1844. The Lower Mill also burnt down, and was replaced in 1847. Newer equipment fitted as part of the rebuilding enabled the mills to stay competitive. William Hollins lived at Pleasley Vale, and oversaw the expansion of the community, with the construction of more houses for the workers, the provision of public facilities including a school, wash house, and a cooperative society, and attention to leisure activities by the establishing of a Mechanics Institute, a library and a cricket club. A company farm was also established.
This is about 500 steps at the bottom of the Fort. This place is phenomenal with 1000's of bats, tombs, podiums, tunnels and cities within the city!
I'm sure this place is recognisable to some.
This is Aysgarth Lower falls, and to be honest pretty much the tourist shot. Personally i prefer the place in Winter, when it usually an absolute torrent.
Overview of most of the Sloterdijk station. Upper level platform in the center, metro platform to the right, and below main hall and lower platforms. The only part not in the shot is another upper level platform beyond left boundary of the picture.
With all the heavy rainfall Arkansas has had the past 2 weeks, I assumed the waterfalls would be raging. Not so much for Liles Falls. It also turned out to be a dreary morning, which grayed everything out. The nice thing is that the Fall colors are popping all over the Buffalo National Forest!
