Christian Movie | Gospel Movie Clip "Yearning" (4) - Is the Kingdom of Heaven in Heaven or on Earth?

Many people who have faith in the Lord believe that the kingdom of heaven is in heaven. Is this really the case? The Lord's Prayer says: "Our Father which are in heaven, Hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done in earth, as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:9-10). The Book of Revelation says, "The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ" (Revelation 11:15). "The holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, … the tabernacle of God is with men" (Revelation 21:2-3). So, is the kingdom of heaven in heaven or on earth?

As I went into the church (see previous shot), the sun shone onto the Bible open at the Lord's prayer - divine light?

In hindsight a smaller aperture to keep while of window crisp would have been good.

The window depicts St Michael with his Sword of Righteousness.... not to be mistaken for the Sword of Dobber ;)

Give us this day our daily bread ... and a straight lamppost

Christian Music Video | Live in the Light | "The Prayer of God’s People"

I

God’s people are raised before His throne, many prayers in their hearts.

God blesses all who return to Him; they all live in the light.

Pray the Holy Spirit enlightens God's word that we fully know God’s will.

May all people cherish God’s word and come seeking to know God.

May God give us more of His grace, so our dispositions can change.

May God perfect us to become one heart and mind with Him.

May God discipline us so we can fulfill our duty to Him.

May the Holy Spirit daily guide us to preach and witness God.

II

May all people know good from bad, put truth into practice.

May God punish evil doers and His church be undisturbed.

May all people offer true love to God most pleasant and sweet.

May God remove all hindrance so we can give our all for God.

May God keep our hearts loving God, not leaving God.

May those preordained by God return into His presence.

May the people all sing their praise to God who has attained glory.

May God be with His people, keep us living in God’s love.

May God be with His people, keep us living in God’s love.

Wall plaques have the words of the Lord's Prayer in many different languages.

Summer dawn over Evangeline Beach near North Grand Pre close to Wolfville, Nova Scotia on the Minas Basin in the Annapolis Valley. I woke up around 5:30 AM today and went out on the bank overlooking the beach and set up my iPhone 6 for a short time lapse. While I was sitting there, some of the other people staying at our motel came out to enjoy the sunrise and sat with me -- a lady from Toronto and her friend from Jamaica. At 16C at 6 AM, they thought it was a little cold outside at that hour, but we had a good conversation as we were all taking pictures of the sunrise.

Two plate photopolymer etching for the Hunter Island Press, 'Frame of Mind' exhibition at Willow Court, New Norfolk. Tasmania, opening Jan 08 2022.

Float mounted on BFK Rives. Paper size: 28 x 38cm

Willow Court, formerly the ‘New Norfolk Insane Asylum’ dates from 1827 and was originally a barracks for invalid convicts and those considered mentally ill and indeed mental distress caused by poverty, forced migration, transportation and the convict experience is well documented.

This work juxtaposes two interconnected events inspired by visits to Rowan Gillespie’s ‘Famine’ memorial in Dublin, Ireland and his ‘Footsteps Towards Freedom’ memorial at Hunter Island here in Hobart. Both events profoundly impacted on Willow Court.

Over one million people fled Ireland at the time of the ‘Potato Famine’ (my own ancestors included), and another million died.

Transportation from Great Britain and Ireland to Van Diemen’s Land during the same terrible period as that Irish exodus, saw some 13,000 women and over 2,000 children arrive to a life of penal servitude.

Many of these souls were admitted to the New Norfolk asylum on more than one occasion. Some lived and died there.

"Jesus said to his disciples: ‘In your prayers do not babble as the pagans do, for they think that by using many words they will make themselves heard. Do not be like them; your Father knows what you need before you ask him. So you should pray like this:

‘Our Father in heaven,

may your name be held holy,

your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven those who are in debt to us.

And do not put us to the test,

but save us from the evil one.

‘Yes, if you forgive others their failings, your heavenly Father will forgive you yours; but if you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive your failings either.’"

– Matthew 6:7-15, which is today's Gospel.

From 1604 the Lord's Prayer, the Decalogue, and the Apostles Creed, were mandated to be placed behind the Altar in Anglican churches.

This is the set from St Katherine's in Chiselhampton. This delightful church, outstanding for the completeness and beauty of its Georgian furnishings and arrangement, was rebuilt by Charles Peers in 1762-63.

Appalachia is mountain, coal and bear country. It is home to spectacular sunsets seen by few.

This sunset is taken from on top of Kingdom Come State Park, which is near Kentucky's southeastern border to Virginia and its eastern edge to West Virginia.

After every game, the Cookeville High School football team recites the Lord's Prayer. As a parent of a former player and a current manager (my daughter who is in the photo), I am definitely "proud to be a Cavalier"!!

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who have trespassed against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Probably I need to buy a Moleskine music notebook after this. I wrote my own version of "The Lord's Prayer" in my native language, Filipino. Also wrote my notes on each part of the prayer, based on readings.

The first stone church at Puddletown in Dorset was built in the ninth or tenth centuries. The present Church of St Mary the Virgin has undergone many alterations and additions since then, particularly in the early fourteenth and the fifteenth centuries.

Inside, the gallery, box pews, font cover and altar rails were part of a major refurbishment following a visitation by Archbishop Laud in 1634. The gallery has a '1635' date carved on it. The columns supporting the gallery were hand carved, and you can still see the adze marks on them. Pasted on to the gallery balustrade is a fascinating old handwritten list of choir members. Hanging under the gallery are fire buckets provided by Sun Insurance and dating from 1805.

Some of the box pews still have pegs on which the parishioners could hang their top hats.

The wall-paintings are from the seventeenth century and depict Biblical texts including the Lord's Prayer.

The font is twelfth century, and is an unusual beaker shape.

In the Athelhampton Chapel are a number of tombs of the Martyn family of Northampton. Particularly fine is the effigy of Sir William Martyn (died 1503, around thirty years after the date of the effigy). Around his neck is a collar decorated with roses, which is explained by his Yorkist sympathies during the Wars of the Roses. At his feet is a monkey (the emblem of the Martyn family) in chains.

The church is strongly associated with the writer Thomas Hardy. Members of Hardy's family were in the orchestra which played in the gallery, before the organ was installed. Puddletown became Weatherbury in Hardy's novels; on the church tower is a gargoyle, which in 'Far From the Madding Crowd' poured water onto Fanny Robin's grave, to ruin the flowers that Sergeant Troy (asleep in the north porch) had planted there; and in the churchyard is the grave of Hardy's uncle, John Anstell, the model for Jude Fawley in 'Jude the Obscure'.

Earlier in the year I was part of a gathering with Sr. Joan to make a collage of our vision for the year. I didn't really have a clear vision as I was making it, but as I gaze upon it now, I see it as the first 4 lines of the Lord's Prayer from Neil Douglas-Kotz's interpretation of it in Aramaic. Sacred Unity, clearing a space for that to live, attuning to harmony and that vision of the cosmos of that kingdom/queendom in the now.

Matthew, 6,8: Be not you therefore like to them for your Father knoweth what is needful for you, before you ask him. Thus therefore shall you pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our supersubstantial bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen.

For if you will forgive men their offences, your heavenly Father will forgive you also your offences. But if you will not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive you your offences.

Herr, es ist von meinem Leben

1. Herr, es ist von meinem Leben

Wiederum ein Tag dahin!

Lehre mich nun Achtung geben,

Ob ich fromm gewesen bin,

Zeige mir's auch selber an,

So ich was nicht recht getan,

Und hilf jetzt in allen Sachen

Guten Feierabend machen!

2. Freilich wirst du manches finden,

Was dir nicht gefallen hat,

Denn ich bin noch voller Sünden

In Gedanken, Wort und Tat,

Und zu jeder Tagesstund'

Pfleget Herze, Hand und Mund

So geschwind und oft zu fehlen,

Dass ich's selber nicht kann zählen.

3. Aber, o du Gott der Gnaden,

Habe noch einmal Geduld!

Ich bin freilich schwer beladen,

Doch vergib mir alle Schuld!

Deine große Vatertreu'

Werde diesen Abend neu,

So will ich noch deinen Willen

Künftig mehr als heut' erfüllen.

4. Heilige mir das Gemüte,

Dass der Schlaf nicht sündlich sei!

Decke mich mit deiner Güte,

Auch dein Engel steh' mir bei!

Lösche Feu'r und Lichter aus

Und bewahre sonst das Haus,

Dass ich morgen mit den Meinen

Nicht im Unglück müsse weinen!

5. Steure den gottlosen Leuten,

Die im Finstern Böses tun!

Sollte man gleich was bereiten,

Uns zu schaden, wenn wir ruhn,

So zerstöre du den Rat

Und verhindere die Tat,

Wend auch alle andern Schrecken,

Lass' mich deine Huld bedecken!

6. Herr, dein Auge geht nicht unter,

Wenn es bei uns Abend wird,

Denn du bleibest ewig munter

Und bist wie ein guter Hirt,

Der auch in der finstern Nacht

Über seine Herde wacht.

Darum hilf uns, deinen Schafen,

Dass wir alle sicher schlafen!

7. Lass mich dann gesund erwachen,

Wenn es rechte Zeit wird sein,

Dass ich ferner meine Sachen

Richte dir zu Ehren ein;

Oder hast du, lieber Gott,

Heut bestimmet meinen Tod,

So befehl' ich dir am Ende

Leib und Seel' in deine Hände.
