Forage Looper (Caenurgina erechtea) - North Central Jersey, 25 Miles west of "The City" (NYC)
I kicked up this guy while out watering my lawn and chased it down for a few pics.
Moths are always a challange to ID,
but I lucked out with this guy and found it on BugGuide after looking at only 4 or 5 hundred moths.
Mereenie Loop road, this for me was one of the things I was looking to most on the whole holiday, I was gutted to arrive in OZ to find it was close due to flooding... checking wether it was open again became an obsession, much to the annoyance of the new wife. I was dead chuffed that it reopened again after 2months on the day I wanted to drive it!! I dont think that bex was impressed with the 6am start and the 12 hours of driving, but the views where well worth it!

Alpine Lakes Loop (2.7 miles r/t):
This nice loop links two sub-alpine lakes, Teresa Lake and Stella Lake. Due to the altitude these are fairly close to the treeline, which has the nice effect of making the greenery near the lakes stand out against the bare alpine backdrop. Teresa Lake has good views of Wheeler Peak, while Stella Lake has a gorgeous flower lined, meandering stream feeding it. Both are great places to relax under a tree by the water, which is appreciated at 10,000 feet. This trail is easily combined with the Bristlecone trail, and shaves a good mile off of the combined distance.

Fall Along the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway in Baker County Oregon.

Hwy 86 between Baker City and the Hells Canyon Dam at the bottom of the canyon is open year round providing visitors access to the deepest river gorge in North America.
