In memory of Shomei Tomatsu (1930-2012)
(The image was made in Bodø, Norway. There is a small park area between the main post office and the cathedral, with an even smaller pool presided over by a walrus -- an exciting place to visit in my childhood. Someone had thrown rose petals into the water; they were floating around the pool in fluctuating formations, quite fast, pulled by a current or pushed by the wind -- I can't remember, or I didn't even know at the time.)
Sightseeing in Valencia. It's okay, I know I will probably be a tourist forever. Well, I just moved here a year ago!
Happy New Year Everyone.

I took a photo of the same are using the manual white balance and manual exposure. This is what I got. Oddly enough, sometimes the auto iris and auto white balance works out better. For the previous photo I did not do much tweaking on Lightroom and Photoshop express to get what I wanted. This one, however, took a bit longer. The shadow areas are much darker, despite efforts to brighten things up to make it look like the other photo. Interesting how things work.
I have visited Banff during all four seasons now, but I think it was my winter trip that sits most vividly in my memory. And now when winter comes along I find my imagination soaring over the miles on a northward trajectory to return to the frozen lakes and snowy mountains of Banff in the winter. My spirit does its best to pull my body along and one of these winters it is bound to succeed. I am definitely returning here come some winter sooner or later, the question is just which it will be.
