I 💜 this shop so much. I'm staying here until closing time!!

The people we meet in SL can have a greater impact on our lives than we might want to believe. I realized this all too well tonight when a friend announced he had to leave. I don't know the reason for his departure. I can only hope that his absence will not be longlasting. I post this as tears burn a stinging trail down my face.

GONE, BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN

Today you left

I’m confused yet understanding

A friendship to be cherished

And one without an ending

The pain that you left me with

Like a knife through my heart

I know you have your reasons

But it’s still very hard

The joy that you brought to my life

Is something I’ll not soon forget

We only recently became friends

Yet it seems we had previously met

I’ll watch for the day

That you return to us again

A flame burning brightly

It will never dim

I’ll never forget you

That wonderful southern charm

Come back when you can

Back to our open arms.

(I wish you well, my friend, and look forward to the day you can return.)

I gifted my Mom this beautiful bouquet of flowers that's sitting on her living room, coffee table.

Anthurium is a genus of about 1000 species of flowering plants, the largest genus of the arum family, Araceae. General common names include anthurium, tailflower, flamingo flower, and laceleaf. It's native to tropical America, from Mexico to northern Argentina and Uruguay. They are grown for their attractive flowering bracts which are popular with the cut flower trade. All parts of the plant, are poisonous. If ingested, may cause mild stomach disorders. Anthurium is a genus of herbs often growing as epiphytes on other plants. Some are terrestrial. The leaves are often clustered and are variable in shape. The inflorescence bears small flowers which are perfect, containing male and female structures. The flowers are contained in dense spirals on the spadix. The spadix is often elongated into a spike shape, but it can be globe-shaped or club-shaped. Beneath the spadix is the spathe, a type of bract. This is variable in shape, as well, but it is lance-shaped in many species. It may extend out flat or in a curve. Sometimes it covers the spadix like a hood. The fruits develop from the flowers on the spadix. They are juicy berries varying in color, usually containing two seeds. 861

OctansLUG-- WW1: The Dawn of Mechanised Warfare

Day 4 – Battleships

It wasn't just on land and air that these innovations were taking place. When HMS Dreadnought entered service with the Royal Navy in 1906 the technological advances she featured had a longlasting impact on the future of battleships, going on to lend her name to a whole class of 'dreadnoughts', with every major power soon making there own. The dreadnought utilised an 'all-big-gun' armament, giving her an unprecedented number of large-calibre guns, as well as being propelled by a steam turbine.

Perhaps the most famous use of Dreadnought class Battleships during the First World War was during the Battle of Jutland. Across both sides, 250 ships clashed in the North Sea, including over 40 Dreadnought-era Battleships. By the end of the battle the combined casualties of both sides surpassed 10,000 men.

Probably my first military lego build. Special thanks to Ryan , Jacob , Bobby and John for the feedback in OctansLUG discord!

Le Presbytère standing adjacent to the village Church.

I've always loved colombage (timber framed) buildings and when you think that the oak timbers are infilled with a mixture of straw, lime, mud and cow dung it never ceases to amaze me!

or African Daisy. My son gave me a bunch while visiting from Cairns last week.

Waterfall near Bad Rippoldsau, Black Forest. Because of the longlasting drought there was not much water in this waterfall, in any waterfall at all I must say. Maybe I'll go back in winter to take another shot.

I was gifted with this gorgeous preserved rose from the Amazon Forest. It will last for years to come. It was a special surprise.

En route to 'Eryldene' (a historic house in the Sydney North Shore suburb of Gordon) I passed these pine cone gate markers. This particular shape - or one very much like it - is a dominant decorative feature all over Bavaria and it always catches my eye: such a pleasing shape. My husband calls them Zirbelnuss, and after much research I have found out that they are the seed of the cembra pine (also called Swiss pine), which is found over a wide area of Europe.

Although I'm not sure I have ever seen the tree, I have seen the cones incised onto Roman gravestones discovered around Augsburg and on display in exhibitions of Roman remains. According to curators, the cone "was the field sign of the Roman legion stationed in Rhaetia in 15 BC, and hence it is used as the heraldic charge (known as Zirbelnuss in German) in the coat of arms of the city of Augsburg, the site of the Roman fort Augusta Vindelicorum" (from Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinus_cembra).

The tree is said to be long living although slow growing, with lifetimes of over 500 years mentioned, so perhaps the Zirbelnuss was a symbol of longevity - hence its use on the Roman gravestones?

What I wonder is how did this shape get to the domestic architecture of North Shore Sydney in Australia?

There is still so much to find out! Including why so many of us like this shape so much.

Dear Diary,

it's a sleepless night, and lying in my bed is an equation of suffering. Perfect excuse to rise up and dirt a page.

Night multiplies minutes. When all seems longlasting, thoughts have room to bounce upon the walls of memory, and resonate.

Have I ever told you I was married even in a lifetime ago? Don't point me mad, it's no kidding. Many times nowadays, in the daytime family routines, I have glimpses of how it was. In a word, harmony.

There was harmony hanging over around in everything we did, in everything we created, in everything we wrote. Our home was made of light, and our twin daughters were two flowers dangling in the slow wind of our love. We never needed to explain or justify an action, our solitary attitude was our togetherness. Making love was more like swimming in a warm sea, pleasantly accomplished by the simple gift of letting our souls come alive to the surface of breath and feel closer to each other. Lunches and dinners were our praises to the joy of life.

We lived a long life together in a place surrounded by a conifers' wood, near a medium-sized lake. The sea wasn't far. We loved to walk, I remember, for long hours without saying a word, hearts lulled by the rhythm of our steps and the birdsongs in the trees.

It's no kidding, believe me. Don't let your paper giggle.

When it happens it's amazing, fulfilling, devastating. Souls know when they've met before, and it's quite tough to tame their will to rejoin. And you even start considering the eventuality to wait for another lifetime, knowing you'll do anything to avoid this, 'cause a body aches for a real body just like a soul aches for another soul.

Why am I telling you all this, Diary? For a simple number: eleven. Many years for a marriage, don't you think? A miraculous milestone, looking back at my recent past.

Sometimes the will of a body is stronger than the will of a soul. But now sorry, Diary; I won't go on, because I can't write this book of love alone. One day, all this web will unmask the spider. And the writers.

Similar to the auditorium chairs in my school. We sat in them for assemblies, and musical or theatrical events.

We also used them for study halls in study periods. I did some of my homework there. They were very comfortable.

They are no longer being produced. I visited my school, about 25 years ago (while I attended a course at The Picatinny Arsenal, in New Jersey) They showed me how they were using spare chairs for parts, as chairs in the auditorium wore out and needed replacement parts.

These chairs, that I saw online, are similar to ours. However I don't see the fold-up desk arms we used in study periods. The rivets and all the hardware, and the bent plywood seats and back all look the same.

I guess it's New Deal style, not unique to my school... Building needed schools in Newark and all across the country was a source of craft and factory jobs for the suppliers of all kinds of things... I took photos of the murals in the lobby that were done by local artists, in the style of Diego Rivera. I will try to find them...

Eleanor Roosevelt, "The First Lady Of The World," came to speak to us, because the school was built as a back to work project for Newark. For many, it was literally (not just figuratively) a life saver. She went around as Franklin Delano Roosevelt's eyes and ears. She identified successes and problems in the programs that helped people survive the Great Depression. The Roosevelts are still very much alive in my memory!!!

I highly recommend the Ken Burns TV series on The Roosevelts.

Howth harbour was very busy last Sunday. Most of the trawlers seemed to be tied up at the pier but the place was a hive of activity with pleasure craft on the move passing this beautiful lighthouse built in 1817. Makes me wonder how many of the buildings we are erecting today will still be totally functional in 200 years time!!!

In romantic mood today. A flower which survives long into autumn. So soft, so strong, and enduring, if given the right care and attention.

I've always loved this song, since I first heard it. I hope you like it too. I know it's been recorded by others, but this is my favourite version, the one I first heard so many years ago. This, too, endures the test of time.

This season was good. That is all I have to say because I wrote in depth thoughts and it all got accidentally deleted and I'm too lazy to rewrite all of that.

So real quick SPOILERS

"I am the future Flash"

That line was very clever

West family was good, I don't really like any of them that much though. Iris twist was very easy to tell in the last two episodes, but kept me in suspense most of the season

Barry always great

Jessie come back

HR was eh, he was fun but I wasn't that upset about him. Wonder what his girlfriend will do now.

Cisco was good, glad to see him Vibe up, and excited to see that his and Catlin's relationship is permanently fractured.

I miss the jerky Julian from the beginning his crush on Caitlin is something I couldn't care less about.

L-R:

Gypsy: she was good, hope to see her more maybe as a mentor for Cisco.

Savitar: this fig is kinda bad, but I wanted to make him. Still can't beat Eobard, but I think I like him more than Zoom.

Killer Frost: I love Catlin, I'm so glad to see her future in the show, and thank god she didn't take the cure. Her and Cisco's relationship being fractured shows the longlasting consequences with this season and I hope that doesn't just get thrown away. I think she will become an antihero of sorts. Kinda like what they're doing with her in rebirth.

Fig Formula:

Gypsy: Barbara head, agent 13 torso, black widow legs.

Savitar: Zod helmet, clear blue head, cyborg hips and reverse torso, black widow legs.

Killer Frost: storm hair, ivy head, black widow torso, scarlet witch legs. Color difference isn't that not I believe btw. Vitruvius cape coat thingy.

Anyway solid season.

Legends pic soon

A cable car or cable railway is a mass transit system using rail cars that are hauled by a continuously moving cable running at a constant speed. Individual cars stop and start by releasing and gripping this cable as required. Cable cars are distinct from funiculars, where the cars are permanently attached to the cable, and cable railways, which are similar to funiculars, but where the rail vehicles are attached and detached manually. Traditional cable car systems

The best known existing cable car system is the San Francisco cable car system in the city of San Francisco, California. San Francisco's cable cars constitute the oldest and largest such system in permanent operation, and it is the only one to still operate in the traditional manner with manually operated cars running in street traffic.
