The 101st Sustainment Brigade (Lifeliners), petroleum supply section conducted an annual fuel handler’s certification course for Soldiers deployed to Liberia in support of Operation UNITED ASSISTANCE. The instructors, Staff Sgt. Michael Jordan, Staff Sgt. Tammie Beasley, Staff Sgt. Kendall Jackson, and Sgt. Deanthony Stokes, taught the course to 27 Soldiers from different units currently deployed. The 101st Sustainment Brigade (Lifeliners) is the senior logistical element deployed to support Operation UNITED ASSISTANCE in Liberia. The Lifeliners are the lead element in logistics to support all U.S. servicemembers and civilians deployed to Liberia and Senegal, West Africa. The Operation UNITED ASSISTANCE is a Department of Defense operation in Liberia to provide logistics, training and engineering support to U.S. Agency for International Development-led efforts to contain the Ebola virus outbreak in western Africa. The evacuation of New Orleans is in full swing and Nashville is a site for the evacuees to arrive at. This plane is full of evacuees from New Orleans, and southern Louisiana. Hurricane Gustav is expected to slam into the Gulf Coast tomorrow with devestating winds and rain. This was one of MANY chartered USAF flights today and even on into tonight.

The equipment is coming in for a military unit that is headed to the nearby National Training Center, located at Ft. Irwin.
