This is from my digital logic lab class at UMKC. We were given a set of input equations then we had to design a circuit that utilized D Flip-Flops.
You can see my clock on the left there (the 555 IC portion). It's a monostable circuit clock, so you push the button (dpts) to "pulse" it. From the left the other ICs are NOT, AND, OR, and then the 74LS74 dual D Flip-Flop.
The two inputs are the white wires that are on this side of the row of IC's, and from the left they are X and Y. The LED's are the indicators of the present states of A and B (where A is in front).

Modus Ponens: If P, then Q. P. Therefore, Q. It is my favorite valid inference rule. Used extremely often in logic to solve proofs, for those who are unfamiliar.

Here's an example of why s/w shouldn't require a dongle. Arghh....but I own it and the dongle is plugged in!!
