This series of 21 window shots comes from an old paper mill where I had the opportunity to participate in photographically documenting the site. The site was home to E.B. Eddy from the end of the 19th century to late in the 20th century. It was taken over by Domtar at that time who actively operated it until 10 or 12 years ago. It has now been acquired by a developer who will tear some of the old buildings down and replace them with condos and a more people oriented modern living site. The site crosses the Ottawa River on the provincial border between Ontario and Quebec. Ottawa is on the Ontario side and Gatineau is on the Quebec side.
I took quite a few window shots because they were few and far between. Many buildings had no windows, or the windows were covered over or too dirty to see through. After spending many cold dismal winters days at the site last winter, (sometimes in very dark areas), I was overjoyed to see the spring sun shining through in some spots.
Given a colour modification & slight blur, the loft conversion continues to be a very popular way of extending the living space in houses.

Last one from the Lake District and a closeup shot of Loft Crag in the Langdales.
It was a day of mixed weather, lots of rain, sunshine and moody cloud, pretty much perfect daytime conditions for landscape photography and the light hitting the fells was too good to miss.
I really loved the way this shaft of light was hitting the top of Loft Crag, keeping the rest of the fell in shadow and with the moody clouds as a backdrop I think it made a decent shot, but as always, I'll leave that up to you, I'm no expert after all!

Jacob and I bought an office space!!! Its a raw loft near the financial district. Once we're done building it out.. its going to be beyond amazing. Oh yeah.. AND we're building green. :)
This fabulous space from Kraftwork was the perfect space to help me create something i've been imagining for a while. A single chandelier lit by beams of sunlight in an industrial styled space. I'd seen a picture while researching something else and it's stuck with me for a while. Today it became an SL reality! A quick trip to the Man Cave Event and to Fancy Decor and mixing up with some other recent acquisitions filled the space.

Des Moines has a loft explosion. You almost have to see it to believe it. Most are taking out blighted and old areas of warehouses and similar operations. Here we see Rowat Lofts. A not yet completed 162 unit complex. The "sculpture" is the crane that was used by the previous occupant of this land, Rowat Stone Co. Here is the back story:

The really cool thing about this is that they saved this crane used in the stone yard, and it now makes for a cool sculpture. Great idea IMHO.
