Lockdown photos

Fotos de "confinamiento"

I'm very lucky to have such a lovely place to go walking in these days of lockdown and limited travel. A brisk walk along the bridleway is the perfect way to spend my lunchbreaks on the days that I am working from home.

Bee Fly in flight. A strange looking insect with its furry body and patterned wings. The long proboscis is used for drinking nectar and the fly is totally harmless. The larvae of the dark-edged bee-fly are nest parasites of ground-nesting and solitary bees, feeding on the bee grubs. The female bee-fly flicks her eggs towards the entrance holes of solitary bee nests to allow the larvae to hatch in the right place.

... whilst looking for a "succulent" shot, I spotted this little mouse snuffling around ... just couldn't resist!

On my daily walks, I've been picking wildflowers to use in my cyanotypes, but it would be rude NOT to use them in some still life shots, wouldn't it?!

A blooming spring is a beautiful thing

Our lockdown is but nature’s chance to bloom

Look at how the season’s colours sing

I have only just begun to create cyanotype prints and I am loving the whole process. I think the prints, in various stages of devolpment, make fantastic subjects to photograph.

So my Flickr page is always a month or so behind.... I was going to share some photos from a recent trip to Thailand but have decided to share some photos from my lockdown exercise walks instead. Still behind in posting but maybe the lockdown may give me some time to catch up.

Sorry about all the dandelion shots ... lockdown means still lifes, or garden shots, or ... still lifes in the garden!!! Yesterday, I was experimenting with different manual focus lenses ... hence all the dandelion shots.

Some more insects found in my lockdown garden. Sepsis fulgens I think.

Narcissi in the garden. I don't know the varieties unfortunately.

Not something that I ever thought I would have in my house, but times, and things, change. Having an essential worker still going out to the city everyday, face masks mean a little peace of mind! (pull back shot in comments)

Sefton Park in Liverpool, late Autumn 2020. This was one of my favourite haunts as a kid along with Greenbank Park up the road, the park has had a massive make over since I lived here with all the water courses flowing, they were always dry in my day, all in all Sefton Park is a fabulous place now and very popular with the Liverpool public.
