National Warehouse is a complex of old brick industrial / warehouse buildings in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is located at the intersection of South Water Street and an isolated leg of Bruce Street, in the Walkers Point / Fifth Ward area. A spur on the west side still sees active rail service, and other out-of-service tracks wind through the complex. Union Pacific has several other active tracks to the west and north, used for local switching and storage. This Union Pacific trackage was the route to the CNW lakefront Milwaukee station, across the nearby Milwaukee River swing bridge.
This view is looking north at some abandoned trackage that runs into a loading dock area near the east side of the complex. I'm standing on a stub of Bruce Street.

Jack London Square is a popular entertainment and business destination on the waterfront of Oakland, California. Named after the author Jack London and owned by the Port of Oakland, it is the home of stores, restaurants, hotels, an Amtrak station, a San Francisco Bay Ferry ferry dock, the historic Heinold’s First and Last Chance Saloon, the (re-located) cabin Jack London lived in the Klondike, and a movie theater.
Jack London Square is located at the south end of Broadway, across the Oakland Estuary from Alameda.
I'm not very happy with this shot. It is a loading dock on an abandoned Building in Livingston Manor, NY.
Among the modern expensive apartment buildings and valet parking there are still elements of the old warehouses that made the North Loop what it is.

ISO 400 f8 1/5sec shot at 24mm. This was a commercial shoot of an assembly plant for special small airplane parts. Ambient with color adjustments and curves. I had the employee sign a model release and he wanted to be in the photo.
Pictures taken during different stages of constructing Big Iron's new shipping & containerization yard.
Precast concrete blocks are being set to create the two level loading dock.
Asphalt millings are being delivered which will be used to stabilize the yard.
A Komatsu trackhoe (excavator) is working on setting the heavy blocks as well as backfilling the wall.

Perspective is tricky, so consider for a moment that those four freight elevators have to pass by the offices above the dock, therefore the depth of the dock is far deeper than the back wall of those offices, but it's difficult to envision that on first glance. This is a part of NYC that makes it run, but we don't really think about it until we have to get something in or out of our working spaces.
