This little Mimico Creek bridge was designed by Santiago Calatrava and opened in 1998. The bridge is only 2.5m wide, but on this day, it was plenty. A historic snowfall blanketed the city. Last time we had this much snow was in 1999. Toronto is usually lucky with less extreme weather than surrounding municipalities.

No, this doggy was not him, but he was concerned and tried to help to sniff him out.

I just liked the poster and this dog was the first one (8 months old, the owner said), which came into my view. Foul play is not suspected, but few dogs were dognapped in the summer, as there was bigger demand for adoption on animal shelters.

The photo was taken at the mouth of Humber River on a second last bridge, before you get to the Lake Ontario. The sunsets are various and many times spectacular. Sometimes the sky is scarlet red, sometimes the brushes work of the clouds reminds you of an old Dutch Master painting. I live near the river and Lake Ontario, so I get to see plenty of sunsets.

From this spot, in 1615, Etienne Brule have seen Lake Ontario; the first white man to do so. Not much changed since then, if you do not look left and right.

The once ubiquitous black bicycle was replaced in last few years in China by electric scooters.

Vltavská Metro station is one of the older ones to be built (Uhlíř-1984), and its charms are questionable. Lifting it from the concrete greyness is a sculpture by Miroslav and Olga Hudeček 'Faun and Fairy'. It is actually a fountain, but the water stop running long time ago. The guy by the lamp post is not officially part of the sculpture.

This large hall was largely unused in the last 2 years, as celebrations of graduation were suspended. I was inside this building only once, as did probably most of Toronto's graduates. As I understand there are also some celebration held there for the academia, but most citizens will see this building only from outside. Hopefully the domed hall will survive the present construction, where several stories deep hole of the size of two football fields was dugged out at the University grounds just few meters away from this structure. Designed by Darling and Pearson and completed in 1907.

The tower, added 24 years after the station was built (1875), is still dominant on this stretch of College. It is a replacement, as the firehall was paradoxically lit on fire in 1972. Firehall No.8 on College St. was the first fire station in Toronto to use car engines rather than horse-drawn vehicle. I happened to be in the city on this foggy day, and I wish I took more photos.

The building history seems to be secret. I like to know about my city, but all I found was history of a College Theatre (1600 people!) across the street, which was demolished in the late 1960's. Portuguese restaurant Via Norte occupies the main floor since 2011 and prior that, there was another Portuguese resto Cataplana, since about 2000. Mr. Ko 'Shorty's Variety' is in the building at least since 1962. Toronto has now 204 of these 'Flexity Outlook' cars. During the pandemic they are running almost empty most of the time.

The dark grey intruder broke the rule, but what do you do? Parking space is again at premium in the city. Even the pigeons have only few spaces left. I always liked this building. Probably from 1890's or early 1900's. Spadina was one of the first streets, which had streetcars and there is still a streetcar running there today. The businesses at the 332-340 Spadina block in China Town changed many times in past few decades, but the building is more or less unchanged.

The railroad had to call via phone to the base for permission through United States Navy's primary East Coast submarine base. This job, once a mainstay morning run, now runs exclusively at night. A debt of gratitude that could never be repaid is owed to T Mik for his services on this trip.

I personally think experimentation is fine. We all have a big digital toolbox to use, so I will occasionally use a new tool. This effect was Cellophane. 'Crocking good times' was their slogan and even I am not attracted to Rock&Roll bars, I always liked the club from the outside. The large beer bottle from the roof is now gone. Hope it found a good home. The bar lasted 25 years (since 1995), which is pretty good for this type of business. The Croc closed its door permanently in May 2020. In retrospect, a smart decision. It is hard to do contact less delivery of 'Good Times' or even harder to pick-up an order of 'Good Cheer' at the curb side.

Sunday night is a Doghouse night at the Cameron House. I go, when I can. The top dog is Matt Coldwell on the bass, Donovan Locke is almost always there to sing, but otherwise the cast of characters changes every week as musicians come from other gigs to jam. Ray on trombone performed first time wit DH, but Tom Moffet on trumpet is a veteran. In the audience is Branko an alternative scene vocalist and at least two waitresses from a tavern a block away. Half a face of Cameron owner Gianni is visible, as he took a break from his bartending duties and sung. Mo, in the back, is one of the best fiddle players in the city.

The first luxury hotel in Toronto is waiting for more tourist and businessmen to arrive. Weather is a big draw; people come from Caribbean to experience the snow sometimes until June. The King Edward Hotel was built 120 years ago for an astronomical sum. Today you can buy a little bungalow for the same price in better part of the city. I have never stayed there, but still hoping one day to experience the famous Crystal Ballroom, which was closed four decades until 2017. There were major chances since architects Henry Cobb and E.J. This photo is from September, but that should not matter, as the sky was quite mysterious that evening. The date was close to 'Torontohenge', where sun rises and sets in line to Toronto's east-west running streets. We have several major streets, which go this way and I only learn that this phenomenon has a name this year, being part of Toronto photographers FB group. It happens for few days in February and again in September. The Baptist church (1889) was converted in 2007 to 4 townhouses and the interior is heavenly beautiful. O’Keefe beer is no longer advertised, served and consumed. One of the oldest breweries in Canada was swallowed by Molson 30 years ago. This house was Headquarters for the brewery, build in art deco style in 1939 (Chapman and Oxley). William Heaslip was more of a wine lover than beer drinker. His name is on the building because of his financial contributions to Ryerson Uni.

Just like it's habitual in Toronto, the guts of the building are gone, only façade is original. The sculpture is attributed to Charles McKechnie, BUT.......

McKechnie died in 1935, 4 years before the building was completed. Sources indicate that it was started in 1937, still 2 years after Charlie died. It is possible, that it was planned few years before his death or maybe he just made a sketch and it was completed by one of his apprentices. I would say the work may be by another Charles, Toronto sculptor Charles Adamson. He worked in the same era and his sculptures feature some strong-armed men.
