In the Sonora Desert section of the NC Zoo, this lizard was catching some warm rays.

Taken in Sabino Canyon on June 24, 2012. I think this one was being hunted by a Coachwhip, which originally attracted our attention. The snake was so engrossed in tracking a scent that I was able to get close enough to the snake to even touch it (and promptly have it scoot off lightning fast). My daughter was behind me and almost stepped on the lizard --- he was that close to the snake, but well camouflaged to us..

Barely spotted this female Fence Lizard next to me while her mate was busy on a tree ahead of us doing head bobs. As you can see, they can blend into different barks of trees quite well.

Dominated by the earthworks of opal mining, many homes and businesses are underground to escape the extreme heat. The town is fiiled with unusual collections of mining history, junk, and props and sets from old movies.

Lizard, Cornwall

Another lizard found walking in North Carolina. I believe it's an Eastern Fence Lizard.

"The viviparous lizard or common lizard (Zootoca vivipara, formerly Lacerta vivipara) is a Eurasian lizard. It lives farther north than any other reptile species, and most populations are viviparous (giving birth to live young), rather than laying eggs as most other lizards do." -Wikipedia

You've got to get out and pray to the sky to appreciate the sunshine; otherwise you're just a lizard standing there with the sun shining on you.
