Mit Rolf auf Foto-Tour

While waiting for my husband to have his jab recently I came across several Linnets looking for nesting material.

The late afternoon sun lights up the waterfall covering the cave entrance to the old mine workings at Blairskaith Linn near Glasgow, Scotland.

I knew the water levels would be quite low so I went to Linn Jaw near Livingston.

The water was higher than expected but luckily I didn't overtop my wellies.

Roughing Linn Waterfall near Lowick, Northumberland, another first for me and a one I will return to in the near future

This spectacular double waterfall is located just a few miles above the village of Gilsland where the river flows through the Irthing Gorge, surrounded by sandstone crags.

In winter, Linnets form large flocks to forage.

Red listed in UK - nice to see this - just part of a larger flock.

Derrygown Linn

One from the Galloway Forest last week and a wee waterfall known as Derrygown Linn. A few autumnal colours still around helping to frame the waterfall nicely.

Found just outside Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland, a stunning hidden gem of a waterfall. I love the icicles coming from the fallen logs

Pembrokeshire Coast.

Linnets have an overall streaky brown appearance. Males have more distinctive plumage than females, with a grey head and pink patches on the forehead and chest. They also have a very melodious song. Linnets form big flocks during the winter months, sometimes mixing with other finches, combing the countryside in search of seeds to eat. (BTO).

My thanks to anyone who clicks or comments on this photo. It is much appreciated.

It feels a long time since i've properly taken a photo. Probably before Covid struck was the last specific trip. It was nice to get out and about purely for the purpose of taking a photo or two.

Crichope Linn is one of those places that needs to be seen in person to be experienced. It has a special aura about it, like a magical and enchanted fairytale glen. Of the numerous times I've visited this place, I've had it to myself everytime. It's hidden away in a quiet corner of Dumfries & Galloway and is hardly frequented by any people. It isn't signposted and is hardly mentioned in any guidebooks. If this was located in other parts of the UK it probably wouldn't have that peaceful and unspoilt charm surrounding it.

Weve been a bit hampered by the weather lately, so i thought i would try out roughting linn, it was a bit of pain to find mind to be honest, it really is off the beaten track. If anyone is going to this site, there are directions on forums that say "dont take the track down to the farm", im not sure why cos thats exactly what you have to do, follow the track for about 50m then walk left and scale down the embankment til you end up on the lower path, its quite steep mind so put your bear grylls pants on :-). I really wanted a nice colour shot with some swirls on the pools, but there was far too much water, and it was the same colour as hot chocolate, so mono it is then !!!

Tucked away in a secluded dell in Kielder Forest in north Northumberland is this lovely waterfall known as Hindhope Linn.
