On a 1998 trip to Ireland, we came across a string of molasses tank cars in Foynes, Co. Limerick.Tank car 26575 is typical of the 2-axle cars used in Ireland.

Driver of 22024 makes final checks prior to departing with the first 0515hrs InterCity service from Limerick Colbert to Dublin Heuston via Nenagh.
This was the first direct service from Limerick to Dublin via Nenagh since the 1980's.

2601/02 + 2615/06 depart Limerick working the 06:45 to Ballybrophy service. At Nenagh, the train will split with 2601/02 continuing to Bally and the rear set forming the 07:49 back to Limerick. 2601/02 was recently outshopped in the original Arrow livery to commemorate 30 years of the 2600 Class railcars.

Taken in 1989 on a horrible slide film (I forget which make, but no doubt what I could afford at the time). This Ireland trip was one of the first big adventures that Karl and I had together so posting to preserve the images before the slide film deteriorates more. The photographs were taken with a Pentax K1000.

A Class locomotive 003, which had already been withdrawn was used to haul ITG's "The Flying Pig" railtour back out from Limerick to Limerick Check to gain access to the freight only branch to Foynes.
