Trams together!

 

Have you noticed that George Street and trams really seem to go together? And to state the obvious, so do trams and trams! So, today in George Street, I took shots (among others) of trams and trams. Enjoy!

 

One of VTA's vintage trolley cars came from Milan, Italy in the mid-1980s. It travels a downtown-only route between the Civic Center and Diridon stations. One of the operators (there's two of them) told me that they do this four days a year. Saturday happened to be one of those days.

I am often wrong but it is a miracle that I was wrong on this. Extension of the light rail network to Dulwich Hill via Lewisham has been announced so many times by the NSW government and never happened. I said that it never would.

 

But this time it is (sort of) happening. Where is the GREENWAY though? And why are they pulling up the existing concrete sleepers and rails?

The Calandlijn of the Rotterdam Metro is a mixed heavy metro/light rail line with considerable lengths of surface and elevated sections and several branches.

 

Here the metro uses overhead lines and has level crossings.
