"In the history of collective as in the history of the individual, everything depends on the development of consciousness. This gradually brings liberation from imprisonment in unconsciousness, and [the trickster] is therefore a bringer of light as well of healing.”

“The so-called civilised man has forgotten the trickster. He remembers him only figuratively and metaphorically, when, irritated by his own ineptitude, he speaks of fate playing tricks on him or of things being bewitched. He never suspects that his own hidden and apparently harmless shadow has qualities whose dangerousness exceeds his wildest dreams.”

“He is a forerunner of the saviour and, like him, God, man, and animal at once. He is both subhuman and superhuman, a bestial and divine being, whose chief and most alarming characteristic is his unconsciousness… He is so unconscious of himself that his body is not an unity, and his two hands fight each other.”

In praise of folly

Anima Mundi

Cosmic dancer

Zero is the number

The forerunner of the savior

Folly stands with

celestials in favor

As the wisdom of the world

is denied

closer to the truth

of the cosmos

O spiritual element!

Which gives earthly existence

charm and value

Salt of life,

yet you taste sweet

Bringing refreshment and

real treat!

Mediator to the center of the soul

Although the fool is always

too much or too less

Half god - half animal

Not un- but amoral

Mask of virtue

How much evil has been transformed

through wisdom?

(The owl of Minerva

comes too late again)

Beneath the consciousness

lies the archetype

When peasants aping the king:

Silliness an ancient

purifying rite

The fool clowning

between

Apollo and Bacchus’ sleight

Like the cunning Hermes

Flying through three worlds

Encrypted remains the

inner access

In Mercury the contradictions

Are connected

Healing begins with the

truth

So let the fool kiss the wound,

that only he can heal

No cure for the Fisher King

dying he lives despite this is fleed

the coffin

If the child is halfway into the

rational world

So the fool is on the right track

to escape

and laughs at those

who boast of their sageness

For divine folly is wiser

than compared to philosophy

and even its weakness

is stronger

Destroyed shall be

the wisdom of the wise

despoiler of most beautiful illusions

fantasised!

Why were we given by

Jupiter in a pound of passion

hardly mixed an ounce of reason?

Unwise deception brings delight

brings us love and the champion

Icy winds on mountain tops

The truth is to flattering mouth

no guest

Only the bread eater holds up

a mirror to the king

And the whim hides

the almost unspeakable

In crude jokes

of the most foolish kind

Why separating the paradise of the

fool from the misdeed?

The latter would never have arisen

had one learned to laugh

in dire need

So there are many classes of

fools

from the first screaming child

on every continent

in every literaral category

The fool can be found

in every human repertory

So let no one deceive

himself!

For whoever thinks to be wise

in this world

let him become a fool

so that he may become wise in the way

he was appointed to

This is for the Fix My Pic Please group

from an amazing original by Doxieone, titled, Korean War Memorial.

I thought this was an awesome shot of the statue. I used the magic wand tool to select and delete the background. I expanded the canvas size to allow for some more room and added several other images on several layers. I added some lighting using an orange/red spot light only on the statue layer.

Thanks Doxieone for letting me work on your amazing photo. It is so cool.

Woman rides a chestnut horse in dramatic lighting with flowing red hair and stylish attire

A confident woman sits atop a chestnut horse against a dark background. Her flowing red hair and elegant outfit catch the light, creating a striking and dynamic visual.

#Dusk’s Champion

A single beam of light cuts through the gathering dusk, carving a stage from the inky void. There, poised atop a chestnut mare, stands a woman whose presence commands both shadow and flame. The horse’s coat gleams like burnished copper, muscles flexing beneath every ripple of light. Behind them, the world recedes into darkness—yet in that moment, they are the only story unfolding.

Her red hair, loose and untamed, erupts around her shoulders in a cascade of fire. Each strand catches the glow, transforming windblown tendrils into living embers. She wears a tailored black coat with silver fastenings and a silk scarf that trails behind like a comet’s tail—an elegant armor fashioned for movement. Her gaze is steady, unflinching, as if she alone can hold back the night.

The chestnut horse shifts, planting hooves with purpose. In the interplay of light and shade, you see the tension of powerful haunches and the arch of a strong neck. The rider’s posture—chin lifted, spine straight—speaks of trust and mastery. They are a single silhouette in motion, a study in strength married to grace, daring the darkness to challenge their claim.

As the light flickers and wanes, she nudges her mount forward. Together they step into the shadows, leaving an echo of brilliance behind. In their wake, the dark canvas seems less empty—a promise that even in the deepest night, bold spirit and beauty can carve their own path.

Looking down towards the Haw River from atop a pile of moss covered boulders.

Well, I was born on the day when the light starts to get longer, and the sun shows itself more each day, so what better way to show that than to wrap myself in lights right?

That's better! SO sorry to those of you who took the time to say nice things about the last one but I went back to play and learned how to really work the lights in my favor. I'm much happier with this! A little different for me, more eerie than it is flattering, and I like it all the same.

Today is pack and fly day so I may not get my 365 in. Here's an extra shot taken late last night just in case!

I know everyone and their mother is wrapping themselves in lights lately, but who says that means I can't or shouldn't right? Gotta try it out! I had this vision of it at work and while this didn't turn out how I'd planned, I still had to BAM, so here it is!

You gotta check out this KEH blog post full of vintage Christmas ads and covers of popular photography. It's pretty freakin awesome!

p.s. Thanks so much for all the birthday love today! I never expected to get so many messages and kind words...you all ROCK for realsies!

"Dr. Martha Starks (Modes of Therapeutic Action) defines maturity as "being able to accept the reality of people and things as they are, without needing them to be other than that." Humans tend to upset themselves if life is not the way they think it should be. What is - is… make your plan and move on to productive behaviors.

Our brains will believe anything we tell them. If you tell your brain that you are in danger (physically, emotionally or psychologically) it reacts as if you are sliding face first down a mountain. If you replace negative irrational, self-limiting thoughts, your emotional control will improve dramatically. What does that mean? It means that your relationships improve, you feel in control and self-confident, you like yourself, and you are more likely to reach your life goals."
