I bought another lightbox, which is smaller because I'm usually too lazy to assemble and disassemble the big one. That's ideal for the minifigures and small scenes, and even small sets like that one. I already used it for the couple of scenes, and I'm extremely happy with the result! :)
Inspired by some of the garbage packaging from my sons bookcase I just built him, I spent the last 2 hours or so building this lightbox.
I am not a pro at this kind of thing, so have a couple seams in the back, but I guess those would be easy to edit out if needed. Even still, I am excited to have a quick quality setup for smaller models.
Tonight I started making this lightbox for product / macro photography. It could use a lot of improvements, but it's a good start. My biggest mistake was buying matte poster paper for the backdrop. I need to go back to Michaels and buy the shiny stuff. I also need to cover all the brown cardboard with shiny white paper for maximum brightness!
Rollover the notes for details.
Our old lightbox at The Sun is covered by about a year's worth of old newspapers and things, so in order to save myself from staring into the fluorescent ceiling lights for long periods of time, I thought I'd try to fire up the Flashlight app I had installed on my iPhone. Works like a charm!
Test shot with the new foam tape in place. Probably need to mess with the white balance and levels, the phone camera doesn't seem to do too well
Very popular presents at the moment I believe. Celebrating my Daughter's birthday last month.
Funny really.....as my youngest Son, Stuart was born on the same day, same hospital, same midwife the same time and almost the same weight. A YEAR LATER.....
1940's radio values in sepia. First attempt at playing with a new cheap and cheerful lightbox and lights set.
Some test photos using the new light box.
It's supposed to be color corrected to 5000K, whatever that means. Not sure my camera plays nice with it, but that's for other people to fix, not me.
Blended four consecutive shots to get the trajectory of the fall. I would never be able to do this daredevil act....hats off to the men/women who could do this.
Got some equipment set up for more consistent picture taking. This seems a pretty good starting point.
I've made some modifications to my lightbox setup, creating an outer frame to hold and support clip-on lights. It now uses three 12" reflectors on top and two 12" reflectors on each side, all with 2000 lumen 5000K color balanced compact flourescent bulbs.
I also use a larger 5000K bulb behind a filter for front lighting, but it didn't fit in the picture.
The background is a solid piece of PlasTex wall laminate cut to size.
Got some of this door sealing tape, which is a thin strip of PU cell foam with an adhesive backing. Does quite a good job diffusing the LED strip.
DIY cardboard lightbox: white broadcloth diffusion material; 2 craft foam sheets connected under plexiglass for background; Nikon SB-24 set on manual at 1/16 power; Cactus V2 trigger for wireless flash. Standing on foot supplied with SB-800 flash.
NOTE: putting the Cactus V2 hotshoe foot (in the image, it's under the SB-24 flash) in the stand supplied with the SB-800 (and also available separately) is NOT a good idea. The connection is poor and the Cactus foot all too easily slides out.

work in progress on the lightbox by CBLOXX
'York Minster Nights' saw leading street artists from Leeds based 'Black Rose' collective painting on panels & light boxes in the specially cleared Nave over four nights. The artists were given several behind the scenes Minster tours in the run up to the event and each piece was inspired by their individual observations.
A truly superb event all round.

Hua Shan (华山) is the westernmost of the five sacred Taoist mountains. Originally known as Xiyue (Western Mountain), it has a long history of religious significance. As early as the 2nd century BC, there was a Daoist temple known as the Shrine of the Western Peak located at its base. Daoists believed that in the mountain lives the god of the underworld. The temple at the foot of the mountain was often used for spirits mediums to contact the god and his underlings. Unlike Taishan, which became a popular place of pilgrimage, because of its inaccessibility to the summit, Huashan only received Imperial and local pilgrims, and was not well visited by pilgrims from the rest of China. Huashan was also an important place for immortality seekers, as many herbal Chinese medicines are grown and powerful drugs were reputed to be found there. Kou Qianzhi (365–448), the founder of the Northern Celestial Masters received revelations there, as did Chen Tuan (920–989), who spent the last part of his life in hermitage on the west peak. In the 1230s, all the temples on the mountain came under control of the Daoist Quanzhen School.
Legend dictates that Hua Shan gained it's five summits because a god split the mountain in two with a giant axe, to rescue his mother who had been trapped inside by an evil daemon.
More experiments with the lightbox and im unimpressed, color is hard to get right and there is glare where i don't want it, i think i need to just stick to natural light

Aunque prefirieran algunos colores y vestiditos
Aunque prefieran algunos colores

GTNP proved me wrong in saying it wasn't a great sunset park. I love how the light was coming out between the peaks, it really was enhanced with the 2 minute exposure.
