To follow ... (too tired, off to bed :-)
Shot this last night at www.paintworksbristol.co.uk/ about 10 minute walk from Temple Meads. A great place to go for some night photos; great also if you are new to long exposure night shots.
A behind-the-scenes shot of my new lightbox. ^_^ Chris and I researched a little online and found that someone had used a clear plastic tub so we decided to do it that way. All these newest photos were taken in the lightbox!
What do you guys think? Does it work? :D How do my photos look?
I bought another lightbox, which is smaller because I'm usually too lazy to assemble and disassemble the big one. That's ideal for the minifigures and small scenes, and even small sets like that one. I already used it for the couple of scenes, and I'm extremely happy with the result! :)
50010 'Monarch' and a couple of Class 31s being overhauled at Doncaster Works. Seen here with its fabled blue roof.
23rd March 1985.
Copied on a lightbox from the original negative.
Inspired by some of the garbage packaging from my sons bookcase I just built him, I spent the last 2 hours or so building this lightbox.
I am not a pro at this kind of thing, so have a couple seams in the back, but I guess those would be easy to edit out if needed. Even still, I am excited to have a quick quality setup for smaller models.

Our old lightbox at The Sun is covered by about a year's worth of old newspapers and things, so in order to save myself from staring into the fluorescent ceiling lights for long periods of time, I thought I'd try to fire up the Flashlight app I had installed on my iPhone. Works like a charm!
Test shot with the new foam tape in place. Probably need to mess with the white balance and levels, the phone camera doesn't seem to do too well

More experiments with the lightbox and im unimpressed, color is hard to get right and there is glare where i don't want it, i think i need to just stick to natural light
Very popular presents at the moment I believe. Celebrating my Daughter's birthday last month.
Funny really.....as my youngest Son, Stuart was born on the same day, same hospital, same midwife the same time and almost the same weight. A YEAR LATER.....
Some test photos using the new light box.
It's supposed to be color corrected to 5000K, whatever that means. Not sure my camera plays nice with it, but that's for other people to fix, not me.
Got some equipment set up for more consistent picture taking. This seems a pretty good starting point.
Got some of this door sealing tape, which is a thin strip of PU cell foam with an adhesive backing. Does quite a good job diffusing the LED strip.
DIY cardboard lightbox: white broadcloth diffusion material; 2 craft foam sheets connected under plexiglass for background; Nikon SB-24 set on manual at 1/16 power; Cactus V2 trigger for wireless flash. Standing on foot supplied with SB-800 flash.
NOTE: putting the Cactus V2 hotshoe foot (in the image, it's under the SB-24 flash) in the stand supplied with the SB-800 (and also available separately) is NOT a good idea. The connection is poor and the Cactus foot all too easily slides out.
