I liked the look of the sea of classic 70's light posts in the parking lot of Tyrone Square Mall. Unfortunately, by the time I got around to bringing a camera, they were in the process of replacing them.
Since picking up a cheap Dynax 7 35mm film body, I've been experimenting with different film stock. In this case, Fuji Neopan 400 'black and white' film that's developed using the c-41 process. Developed, printed and scanned at Snappy Snaps, Reading with some light post processing on the scans to remove a slight colour cast / straitening / cropping and a little exposure / contrast tweaking.

It's funny how, when you take a trip such as we did, you return with a few iconic images that stay with you forever. For us, it was the Texas Lone Star. I have always loved the simplicity and beautry of their flag, but didn't know anything about this symbol. Now we do!! And, after learning this, we saw this star everywhere we went - no kidding! Everywhere!!
This huge star sits in the courtyard out front of the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum in Austin. You can get a sense of the size by comparing it to the light posts nearby. Oddly enough, the original star design came from someone in the state of Georgia.
medium: straight digital photography

This was a photo of an aged base to a light post. I saw this but doubted that I would end up using it but I really liked the color and texture in this photo. It was about 5:00 when I took this at Grass Hopper Bridge Park. This was just rust and did not think that something like this would look so interesting but I was pleasantly surprised. Rust speaks mostly for itself.
Finally had a good day to use my polarizer! There were some beautiful cirrus clouds around.

Early morning shot of the worlds first Starbucks. Nikon D90, Nikkor 18-200mm VR at 18mm, f/3.5, 0.62 sec., picture control; vivid. Braced the camera up against the light post to keep it steady.
