"I don't believe in bodybuilders using steroids. If a man doesn't have enough male hormones in his system to create a nice hard, muscular body, he should take up ping pong.”

--Steve Reeves

Exhausted, but in a good way!

pumped AF, sweaty and exhausted (in a good way) 😀

Brief History of CrossFit

CrossFit was founded by former gymnast Greg Glassman, and the first CrossFit affiliated gym opened in Santa Cruz in 1995. CrossFit itself is a strength and conditioning fitness methodology that promotes broad and general overall physical fitness using a myriad of exercises more commonly found in the activities of weightlifting, sprinting, and gymnastics.

Designed to enhance a wide array of physical characteristics simultaneously such as cardiovascular endurance, power, flexibility, speed, agility, and balance, the popularity of CrossFit has truly taken off in recent years. The number of affiliated gyms grew from 18 in 2005 to almost 1,700 in 2010.

CrossFit attracts and is truly for any person that engages in some fitness regimen. It inspires those of us who train to perhaps think of new, fun, and creative methods for training. And in much the same way as the Olympics inspires us to think and dream of what we are capable of when pushed, I’d argue that CrossFit offers this emotion and concept to a greater array of people who are perhaps not as gifted in one particular area as an Olympian or professional athlete but still have the drive for self-improvement.

While wandering around downtown Ft. Lauderdale we came across a CrossFit competition in a parking lot beside the Revolution Live nightclub. The males were strutting their stuff at the time so here are 4 "beefy" shots.

100 SW 3rd Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL

While wandering around downtown Ft. Lauderdale we came across a CrossFit competition in a parking lot beside the Revolution Live nightclub. The males were strutting their stuff at the time so here are 4 "beefy" shots.

On April 12-13, the inaugural Revolution Games CrossFit Competition gathered a lean and muscular crowd to work up a sweat in a unique locale, downtown Fort Lauderdale’s typically boozy Himmarshee District.

The competition will took place 8 a.m.-6 p.m. each day outside the Revolution Live nightclub (100 SW Third Ave.), with an expected 250 men and women in amateur, professional and team categories vying for $10,000 in cash and prizes. The games were broken down into five groups, including elite, RX, masters, team and the scaled division, “a fun competitive category open to most any CrossFit fan.”

Contestant entry fees was $110, and $220 per team, with applications at TheRevolutionGames.com.

The free-to-watch event was hosted by 3J Hospitality (owner of Revolution Live) and CrossFit Muscle Farm. And, yes, there was an afterparty at Revolution, America’s Backyard and Stache each day.

Even when seen during a slow weekend afternoon on a sports-bar TV, watching a CrossFit competition, with its glistening contestants powerlifting and kettlebelling and grunting and doing those crazy handstand push-ups, is always highly motivating. If only we hadn’t just ordered that pitcher and platter of wings.

Track5. JaughnBearen - Survivor-Eye Of The Tiger

Rocky 3 is one of my all-time favorite movies. The acting might not be the greatest, but the story is awesome. A man who went from nothing to World Champ who let himself become "hollywood", and let the fame and success go to his head, until he got his ass whooped by Mr. T, who was the hungrier fighter the first time they fought. It took this major ass whooping to give Rocky a slap in the face which brought him back to reality. Its a real jungle out there, and the competition is cutthroat. Time does not wait for anybody. We are not living in a movie, and sometimes you only get one chance. No matter how good we may get at our trade, we must never let that get to our head. It is vital to always maintain humble and keep that hunger that pushed you to get to where you wanted to be. It is important to always have that "Eye of the Tiger" and always fight to make your dreams come true. The only thing in the way of us and our dreams is ourselves, once you lose that hunger, that fight, and that passion about what you do, then is there anything worth fighting for? Always remember why you are a photographer in the first place...Do what you love, and do it how you want to do it. No one can ever take that away from you.

I had tons of ideas for how I wanted to shoot a picture for this song. But here I am in "The Lab" doing the Alien Bee Bench Press, pushing weight, and pushing lights at the same time. The Lab is where I do my fitness and excercises. Im always eating and im even hungrier.
