...yet another "Life's a Beach" picture taken last month (with a twist on the title) whilst a bud from New Zealand was visiting (I took him to many of the iconic Beaches in SoCal).

Picture of surfers on the North side of the Santa Monica Pier.

Our plan was to surf all these breaks, but time didn't permit...he'll be back in the New Year and we'll hit all the breaks then.

Vibrant Scene

I've been searching my house for the right light for classical still life images, and I found it today. This shot uses only natural light, and veg from our vegetable basket. I've added a texture to the wall.

My husband and daughter's instant reaction to this shot was "What happened to the wall?", followed by a sigh of relief when I explained that our wall isn't really like that. The question is, does this texture suit the image, or should I look for something better?

Think about it...

The workers are working on road construction. Its a very difficult job. The smokes are harmful for health because they contain many harmful chemicals. But it is their job. Life is not a bed of roses .

Life, although it might not always seem it. Life is pretty good. I was asked, by a tattooed normally drunk homeless man what I thought of the UK after he asked if I was English and thought I might be on his side.

I told him I love the place. Look around it great people are well fed. Most look half decently dressed. We have work a health care system. What more could we want. Then he went on about immigration and I said look around where are the immigrants who are on benefits. He pointed to a number of business. I said but they are working. He then said well I am homeless. At point his arguments were lost. Covered head to toe including his face in tattoos, a bad attitude and workshy way about him and he is moaning about immigration and the state of the country. Here's a thought mate. Maybe go to work so as you have some money to enjoy life a little more might be an idea.

I went to a Celebration of a Life today...I guess this is kind of opposed to something called a funeral. All I know is that my uncle, who I attended this with and who is 86 years young, would have called it a funeral.

What you are looking at is a close-up shot of the Order of Service sheet we were handed as we entered the church.

Maureen and I grew up as members of the same extended family (her Aunt and Uncle being my Aunt and Uncle). Though we had crossed paths when we were younger, it wasn't until I was living in Toronto, as was she, that we had occasion to really spend some time together. We had been asked to work up a song for our cousin's wedding, in which she would sing and I would accompany on the guitar. The song was 'Evergreen' by Barbara Steisand. As we both worked downtown, we would meet afterwards and subway up to her place to rehearse...a few moments in the larger frame time of life that changed the way I looked at things forever.

As one speaker after another came to the podium to give a tribute, many lead by someone who had sight, the true inspiration of what her life was unfolded into a magnificent experience!

This was one of three songs that accompanied the 'celebration' 'Autumn Leaves - Ed Sheeran.

It's not death I worry about

It's life that will bury us all

It's the frustration of finishing the day

In the exact same place you started it

If you are lucky

It's not sorrow It's getting hard to handle

It's being optimistic that grinds us to dust

With nothing to hope for you take it as it comes

And it only comes close to what you wish it will

If you are lucky

It's not the sound of noise that you really hate

It's the silence that comes and covers your soul

You can learn to live with noise; it's a sound of life

It's the sound of silence that makes you feel dead

If you are lucky

It's being surrounded by noise

Being sad and preferably dead

That I really wish for

If I'm lucky.
