Finché questo monito rimase presente nella memoria di Venezia, essa ne trasse vigore; ma quando lo dimenticò, incontrò la rovina, una rovina irrevocabile perché il suo oblio non aveva scuse.": questo monito era impresso a lettere dorate nella Basilica di San Marco, il tempio del patrono e protettore di Venezia. Una lettura appassionata della città, della sua architettura e della sua storia.

And yet Venice itself, which had once been the most religious district of Europe, became the most corrupt during its decadence, and the "pestiferous art of the Renaissance" was born in Venice. "'He will return to judge and do justice'. As long as this warning remained present in the memory of Venice, it drew strength from it; but when it forgot it, it encountered ruin, an irrevocable ruin because its oblivion had no excuse.": this warning it was imprinted in golden letters in the Basilica of San Marco, the temple of the patron saint and protector of Venice. For the #MacroMondays theme for 2/12, we have been tasked with presenting anachronisms- old fashioned artifacts. Embossing pages with a stamp or creating book plates seems to fit the bill. These days if readers keep track of their actual books, it’s probably done digitally or on kindles.
Later I’ll post a picture of the embossing tool.
The other one we liked and I almost chose was the flashcube…

HO IMPARATO MOLTI VOCABOLI INGLESI e potevo recitare una parte dei Dieci Comandamenti. Sapevo come si dorme in un letto, come si mangia con coltello e forchetta e come si usa la toilette.

Non mi piace assolutamente nulla di questa foto.
Ma questo di per sé non sarebbe un problema.
Il problema è che fra tutte le foto scattate nell'ultima settimana non riesco a trovare un particolare che sia quantomeno decente.
Tradotto in poche parole: SONO IN CRISI.
Non riesco a comporre una foto. Non riesco ad accostare una cosa all'altra. Boh.
La cosa ancora più brutta è che mi conosco. E ho paura che questo mi allontani dalla fotografia.
Mah. Spero che passi. Perché mi sento vuota. È come se una parte di me mancasse.
Non riesco a spiegarlo bene. Ma è molto triste.
