My family was fortunate enough to spend our vacation on the beautiful island of Kauai. This was the beach right in front of our rented beach house. We loved the hammock and saw some amazing sunsets! This photo was taken with my nikon d50, 28-80 zoom lens, hand held and fill flash used.

I am slowly developing a smart casual look so as I don't stand out to much when I am in the mood for medium level blending lol
This is another charity shop find that cost around five or six quid so nice and cheap and well worth the gamble, I am totally sold on the whole jump suite thing and this has really wide legs that float around rather nicely.

A splendid view that I came across on Sunday when driving home from the countryside outside Bergen. Note the first snow this autumn to the left. Taken from the island Osterøy in western Norway. Feels a little bit like HDR...
It also reminds me of my most favorited photo: www.flickr.com/photos/24961345@N00/202105605/

~35 minutes (71 exposures @ 30 seconds) Moon about half full, some light pollution coming from the town on the left side of the photo.
Stars were stacked with Photoshop actions.
Foreground taken from 2 different exposure and then blended in (one for colour and detail, one specifically for shadows)
One additional exposure of the stars with different levels blended in at the beginning, to show the starting point of the trails more clearly.
Standing tall (and full) these two bottles of scotch are awaiting a special occasion or two. Johnnie Walker Green Label is a mid-level blended scotch in the Johnnie Walker brand. The Cragganmore is a 12-year old single malt.
This shot sat on my camera card for three months before I finally processed and uploaded it here. I almost dismissed it - after all, I'm not a big fan of the Observatron (or the Thingamabob, whatever you wish to call it). The whole apparatus is interesting, but doesn't seem to serve any apparent purpose and is a garish shadow of the '98 Tomorrowland makeover.
Despite my feelings for the machine, I'm glad I held onto this. The different levels blended together much more beautifully (and easily) than I imagined they would, and I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful sunset! Having assembled the final product, I find there's a lot to like about this photo: the gentle tones, the old elevated track leading off to the Astro Orbitor, the itty-bitty starburst. (you're just noticing that now, aren't you?) Now if only there was a string of PeopleMovers in that station...
Oh, and might I suggest viewing on black?

So... The original of this shot was fairly well lit, as was the intent. However, as I was looking at it on the computer I thought it would be cool to go for a more dark and moody shot.
A few adjustments of levels, blending layers, and curves.... and here we are.

15th June 2009 - New week, still tired from the last one. Pretty good day though, boss had many meetings, and so I caught up with my work, sorted lots of outstanding admin, and even took the time to do a couple of old GCSE papers from a few years ago. I'd have got an A in Science without studying! Hmph....annoyed. Used to be proud of my grades.
Designed by: Els Verbakel, Elie Derman The Neighbor’s Lawn installation offers a platform for bringing together residents of old apartment buildings at the city's entrance and visitors to the Biennale. The upper level blends visually with the apartment's balcony, merging with a green field. The lower level faces the street and features an artificial forest, with a labyrinth for kids and their visitors to play in. It also provides benches for those who prefer to sit, watch and talk. This kaleidoscope was created using GIMP GAP and contains two animations, one on top of the other with the upper levels blend mode adjusted so you could see both animations in action. One of the animations is a kaleidoscope that is moving from the center out, the other is moving from the image borders to the center.
This was a LOT of fun to create!

The main cloister, the processional cloister or the "Cloister of the Kings", is the work of Brother Martin de Santiago, a member of the monastery. The lower level blends elements the Gothic and the Renaissance. The arches that border the garden are semicircular, in Renaissance style but treated as Gothic, and divided by three mullions. The vaults of the four bays are ribbed with Gothic features. In the center of the garden stands a shrine. The upper level has a simple wooden ceiling, galleried by forty arches, resting on pilasters, whose capitals are decorated with grotesques and other motives. From the ground floor you access the chapter houses. The "Ancient Chapter" is dark, simple and austere, from the 14th century, with work from the following centuries. One of its sections is the chapel, where at the upper level the most prominent members of the monastery are buried, including Francisco de Vitoria and Domingo de Soto. Ordinary members of the order are buried at the lower level where the monks sat on benches against the walls for their meetings. The "New Chapter" is larger, more monumental and better lit than the older one and dates from the 17th century. It is similar in design to the sacristy, which is accessed via the Soto staircase.
The story behind this.. We got a big roll of wire wool and lit it and played football with it and this was that out come.

I saw this photo posted by bragur and I asked about the post processing techniques used and he was kind enough to reply. I followed the info he provided as best I could and above is the result. The original image I used can be found here.
I'd like to know your thoughts, flickr friends - how did I do? What is it about the processing that is different? I can't tell and would like some feedback. (Layers in top-down order in the Tags)

The post-work on this shot was extreme. I'd really wanted to capture this equipment, which was only barely lit, but as you can imagine, the sensor on the camera overexposed the center and underexposed everything else.
Luckily, I shoot RAW, and a lot of that color data was still in here. A bit of channel, level, blending and other layered Photoshop work later, I got the shot I'd envisioned in my mind when I first aimed the camera here.
Easily my favorite from the Mammoth Passage tour.

The BMF Effects Decho box is a HAND WIRED digital delay. The delay emulates the vintage tape delay at a fraction of the price. It has a delay time of over 300ms, with a level, blend, and repeat knob.
The UNIQUE feature about this pedal is that it has a BUILT IN EFFECTS LOOP that is applied to the repeated signal. With the send and return jack on the back of the pedal, you can plug in certain effects so that you can, for example, have a phaser applied to only your delayed guitar sound for a one of a kind "battling" guitar sound. Serial #23, made 4-29-07, with company owner Scott's signature on the back faceplate. I bought this also at Go- Go Guitars for $240, and i'll sell it for $200 since BMF does not make this pedal any more and is really hard to find.
This blender pump offers consumers choices at the pump. You can find regular unleaded, E10, E30 & E85 at King's Mart Sinclair at 3725 North Cliff Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD. www.ChooseEthanol.com
