A bush of forsythia in the garden which at a certain time in the evening is backlit by the sun going down.
The lavender in the garden is now about 75% in full flower but it's been battered somewhat by the last month's relentless storms.
Achillea millefolium, commonly known as yarrow or common yarrow, is a flowering plant in the family Asteraceae. Other common names include old man's pepper, devil's nettle, sanguinary, milfoil, soldier's woundwort, and thousand seal. We planted it last year and this summer it's blazing away with a gorgeous orange colour. This little white snail is hitching a ride. The little white snails are everywhere at the moment and are the absolute bane of my life although they come in handy now and then for a photo! Always a silver lining, eh? :-))
Happy Summer Solstice!
Anse San Peyre, La Garde Toulon, Côte d’Azur

This was taken late afternoon last Saturday when the temperature reached an unseasonably warm 22c. I was on the top of a hill with views looking south east over the countryside. It really was a lovely sight especially with the sun getting lower and lower. This was not exactly a sunset, that was about another 45 minutes away but I thought the colours and haziness at this time were rather special, especially with the escarpment on the left.

The building in the foreground is a place where they hold functions in Sillans-la-Cascade. It's called The Bastidon. You can then see the church and beyond the church is a glimpse of the village Mairie ("town hall").
I was in the garden earlier trying to take macro photos of the flowering vine rocket (the white flowers in foreground) and I saw Bob sitting patiently waiting for me so I turned the camera on her as she looked so cute sitting amongst the daisies
The cypress trees that you see remind me of the spires of churches. This is a photo of a corner of Cotignac which I took this morning from the top of the rock face when we took Bob for a walk.
I've been doing some sliding with this image of an iris flower. It's all a bit OTT but that's what I wanted; a bit of fun on an otherwise boring Saturday evening. We're away tomorrow to visit friends in a different part of Provence and return on Tuesday. I'm looking forward to the little break.
Enjoy the rest of your weekends! :-)
Aqui,
a espera é breve,
o rio tem sua passageira,
tem sua Poderosa...
Ela que sabe fazer cada viagem,
levar cada viajante
depois voltar,
para ser sempre,
a Poderosa do Jacuí.
Here,
the wait is brief,
the river has his passenger,
has its powerful ...
She who knows how to make each trip
take every traveler
then return,
to be always
the Poderosa of Jacuí.
Taken in the garden this morning. It was only when I uploaded the photo on the computer I saw all the creepy crawlies. I can count about seven of them
Saying goodbye to Autumn and hello to Winter in Provence. While northern Europe has been suffering from frigid temperatures and snow, here in the south of France it's been cold and very wet with so much welcome rain; so much that yesterday the drought which has been affecting the particular area I live in (Var Departement) was declared officially over. It's such good news as some areas of the Var were on very tight water restrictions since the summer. The cry at this time of the year is meant to be 'Let it snow, let it snow' but here it's 'Let it rain, let it rain'! :-)
I took this in Spring in the garden. It's a different type of thistle to the recent photo I uploaded of a thistle seed head. We're rather fond of thistles - the pricklier the better!
Have a bon day and a great week ahead! :-)

I did not like the change in page layout Flick ... was frustrating for me to come here.
Nothing, nothing is better ... concealed what is most important.
Maybe I'll stay away for a day ... I'm disappointed.

The big pot of agapanthus outside the kitchen door has three huge blooms and I wanted to capture them in some way before they faded away. The low evening sun was shining on parts of this particular bloom and even though this individual flower was way past its best and almost in a state of decay I found it surprisingly beautiful even against the other more fresh flowers

The little road you see on the left is our current favourite place to walk with Bob and where a lot of my recent photos have been taken from at various intervals along the way. It's a former railway line, probably closed about sixty years ago and is now a place for walking and cycling. We never see another soul apart from the odd cyclist so we can let Bob off the leash and let her run free. The building is empty and seems to the eye to have been something railway related in the past. I particularly like the shadows from both the trees and the building forming what looks like a giant barcode on the road. :-)
Seen in our garden. I can't remember seeing them before. They are small but very beautiful. I believe I took this macro with an extension tube (I can hardly remember what I did this morning never mind on 11 May when I took the photo) :-))
In the heart of Cotignac on the Cours Gambetta on a recent Sunday morning when there was a bric-a-bac sale throughout the village
Taken this morning when Bob took us for a walk around the village. The sky looks grey in the photo but it's actually "sunny intervals" type weather
I took this yesterday evening on our way home after going to a café for an aperitif with his nibs and Bob. The village is very lively now as the holidaymakers have arrived for July and August. Today is Bastille Day which is the common name given in English-speaking countries to the national day of France, which is celebrated on 14 July each year. In French, it is formally called the Fête nationale française; legally it is known as le 14 juillet. There's lots of festivities on and in Cotignac the main draw is a 'pasta party' on the Cours Gambetta followed by a concert and usually a fireworks display to top everything off but with the scorching hot weather I'm not sure that it's taking place this year
We have a huge bank of lavender in part of the garden and this year it's flowering like never before, just like the Laurier Rose (Oleander) bush behind it which is the pink you see in the photo.
Happy Monday and have a great week ahead!
We stopped for a coffee a bit further up from where this photo was taken after visiting the post office and pharmacy. We were with Bob of course and bringing her into the heart of the village where there are people and dogs milling about is good training for her. Despite her being a tad over 1 year old we are still training her to co-exist happily with other dogs without barking at them and children and cyclists too as she gets anxious when she's close to them and barks too much and with cyclists, would chase them if we didn't have her on a leash. Life is never a dull moment with her! :-))
Carcès (pron. 'Carsez') is the nearest village to Cotignac. We visited there yesterday to go to the butchers to order our Christmas meat. We chose duck stuffed with cep mushrooms for the Christmas Day lunch. It was a bit of a cold and dank day. The white flowers between the vines are called 'vine rocket' as in rocket salad leaves
