Taken in the garden which is awash - in parts - with poppies; a sight to gladden any heart. I haven't had the time to be on Flickr for the last seven or so days so excuse me while I catch up when and where I can.
A little patch of bluebells are in full bloom in the garden so I cut some of them, brought them indoors and put them in a little vase. The background colours are from a recent photo of a dying tulip which I printed off on A4 paper
I received a bouquet of tulips the weekend before last and I kept them well past their "sell by" date as I wanted to photograph them while they were at the early stages of decay. I find they possess a certain beauty even at this stage of their life.
Taken in the garden. As you can probably tell from my successive uploads of them, I'm rather fond of poppies 😊
Taken in the garden which has a fair number of poppies now. We scattered lots of poppy seeds last year and after heavy rain at the weekend they're popping up all over
Please excuse if I'm a bit hit and miss with replies as it's a case of 'baby steps' at the moment following last week's op but definite progress is being made! :-)
Aups is a market town about ten miles from Cotignac. We took Bob there on Friday for her grooming. It took two hours so while waiting we had lunch and then a meander around the backstreets before we went to collect her.
This is a gerbera plant which I bought yesterday. I do like gerbera flowers as they are full of vibrant colour and emit such a happy vibe 😊
Happy Wednesday!
A snapshot of a corner of Cotignac taken from the top of the rock face which overlooks the village. It was quite a way from what you're looking at so I had to zoom in a lot. My house is off camera top right, next to the ploughed fields you can see.
Bob took me for an early walk and coffee this morning. The weather today is absolutely gorgeous.
Happy weekends all round! :-)
A macro of the large and beautiful seedheads of salsify. It was a lovely surprise to discover the very fine filaments you can see on the photo which are not really visible to the naked eye. Simple pleasures :-))
I was waiting with Bob on a bench with my camera while my partner was inside the boulangerie buying our bread. I wanted to take a photo of the outside of the boulangerie but couldn't find the right composition until by chance the baker arrived with a tray of freshly baked brioche and I thought there's my photo! They do all their baking in a bakery opposite from the boulangerie. The Christmas lights you see at an angle are on a very old water fountain.
I posted a photo of this Château a month or so back and when we walked past it last week I thought it looked so attractive surrounded by the fresh greens of Spring
We planted a California poppy plant last year and it's flowering very well at the moment. The poppies are a lovely lemony colour.
I know I'm pushing my luck uploading yet another photo of the magical avenue of trees so please indulge me. Believe me when I say this is the very last one (I took many, all variations on a theme). The avenue leads to a mansion from the 16th/17th century so I presume its narrowness is because it was designed for horse driven carriages. Another photo I uploaded fairly recently called 'nestled in nature' shows the mansion at the end of the avenue of trees. There's quite some history in it all which I've read online this morning but is too complicated for me to share with you plus once I've uploaded this a certain doggy needs walking
This shows a 'new' shop in a corner of Cotignac. I say 'new' but it's not really as it was originally situated somewhere else in the village and it has moved to this prime location at the bottom of the Cours Gambetta at the heart of everything. Their previous location was almost hidden away in the Place de la Mairie so they must be delighted at this picturesque spot with that wonderful curving staircase. The interesting dress with bodice draws the eye every time you walk past which I think is the reason it's there; I doubt it's for sale. They're having an official opening party tomorrow evening. I left in the coloured glass at the top left as I would have lost the bottom of the stairs. That coloured glass is part of a new discreet deluxe hotel development in the village. The coloured panes of glass are actually solar panels on the top of the glass atrium. I think it's going to be a café/restaurant open to the public. I finished the photo in Lightroom with a Cinematic preset. :-)
We planted a bed of this strange but interesting looking flower last summer and it's grown really well. They have a great structural look about them and grow to about 1 metre high. The yellow flowers have been blooming since mid-April. The crosses you can just make out in the back are two wall trellis for a jasmine plant and bougainvillea which have yet to show an interest in climbing on them! You win some, you lose some. Maybe next year? :-)
I took this after going to the butcher earlier this morning to order something for tomorrow's lunch. The butcher is just off camera to the left. Every time I pass this shop I always think how charming it looks.

I took this exactly a year ago today in the garden. The little blue flowers are nemophila and are like a carpet of blue against the green. They're the daintiest of little Spring flowers.
This is a corner of a sprawling garden of friends of ours in the nearby village of Sillans-la-Cascade. I took this photo on 'Coronation Day' when they invited us for a 'Three P's' party - Pétanque, Prosecco and Pizzas! It was the first time I'd played pétanque and I thoroughly enjoyed it although my bowling was getting slightly wayward after many glasses of prosecco (and gin & tonics!) 😊

Avec cette vue imprenable sur l’île des #embiez dont je conseille vivement la visite vous y découvrirez un petit paradis sur terre où tourisme et préservation de l’environnement y ont tout leur sens.

Taken on top of the cliff face in Cotignac, looking south towards the Mediterranean about 1.5 hours drive away. The village on the right is Carcès, about 8 km away and is the nearest village to us. It was a beautiful morning where the mist was lingering in the valleys.
Misty Blue is one of my favourite songs from the 70s and always makes me think of the endless hot summer of 1976 when it was in the Top 10 of the UK charts. I've got the vinyl album on which this song is included.
