E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park - One of the most unique state parks in Kentucky is E.P. “Tom” Sawyer. The 550- acre park is located in Louisville in the northeastern part of Jefferson County off Westport Road. Named in honor of former Jefferson County Judge Executive Erbon Powers Sawyer (1915-1969), the Commonwealth of Kentucky originally purchased the land for the park in June 1969 from the Kentucky Department of Mental Health. The Kentucky Department of Parks leased the land and the buildings in 1970 and the park opened in 1974. A portion of the property had once been used for farmland for the mental health hospital.

Kentucky Derby - Saturday, May 7, 2016
Louisville, Kentucky, USA
Pancake and I had a blast playing in a dusting of snow this morning as she loves this cold weather. We had no problem navigating the many large snowplows out today in our Kentucky Blizzard. She did not see any squirrels or deer but as always, we saw the ducks. We did not see the Greylag goose out there but I'm sure he/she is around somewhere. We were grateul to be able to run around outside. We did see someone on the other side of the hill sledding with their toddler.
Now, yesterday, November 11, 2019 was a ldifferent story.
l. We were ordered to leave a BP Gas Market because "your service dog is not allowed in here". I offered to call the police but the lady behind the counter declined my invitation. We were low on gas. Reminder to self: Don't go back to that BP station (Shelbyville & Moser Road, Louisville, KY) without a copy of the laws in hand.
2. A Speedway employee so graciously asked "Do you know it's Veteran's Day?" Do you know our co-worker here is a Veteran?" I did not know he was and thanked him for everything. I did not reply to the "Do you know it's Veteran's Day" question. I was grateful so many individuals asked me that question yesterday. I also thanked them for the *privilege* of being *allowed* into their facility with my service dog to get crackers.
What I did not know was that there is caffeine-free Sprite that is diet (without the sugar). I erroneously bought regular Sprite which contains sugar and now I guess neeed to find someone to donate this sugared Sprite to. Sometimes we spend a little extra money in order to avoid Krogers, Meijer's or Walmart on most days. Hopefully I will be able to get off Coca-Cola and soda all together one day. We're doing the step-down method . So now we try tp avoid the sugar (and salt - "the new soda") and pretty much everything to be proactive with the hydrocephalus. Pancake does enjoy her jaunts in the park.

Hydrocephalus::Hydrocephalus is the buildup of too much cerebrospinal fluid in the brain. Normally, this fluid cushions your brain. When you have too much, though, it puts harmful pressure on your brain.
Hydrocephalus can be congenital, or present at birth. Causes include genetic problems and problems with how the fetus develops. An unusually large head is the main sign of congenital hydrocephalus.
Hydrocephalus can also happen after birth. This is called acquired hydrocephalus. It can occur at any age. Causes can include head injuries, strokes, infections, tumors, and bleeding in the brain. Symptoms include
Headache
Vomiting and nausea
Blurry vision
Balance problems
Bladder control problems
Thinking and memory problems
Hydrocephalus can permanently damage the brain, causing problems with physical and mental development. If untreated, it is usually fatal. With treatment, many people lead normal lives with few limitations. Treatment usually involves surgery to insert a shunt. A shunt is a flexible but sturdy plastic tube. The shunt moves the cerebrospinal fluid to another area of the body where it can be absorbed. Medicine and rehabilitation therapy can also help.
We are unsure what this is - it is an old tobacco barn and the owner hung this up to keep the flies off of the horses although we are unsure what is inside this. One of those old world secrets. I wish we had learned this one.
VERY NOBLE AND ALWAYS LOYAL CITY OF ÉVORA
In Praça do Giraldo the lights are adorned with the coat of arms of Évora. It features Giraldo the fearless on horseback with his sword pointed up. The sword is covered in blood when on colored flags and banners.
The two heads at the bottom are moors, a gatekeeper and his daughter, Giraldo beheaded allowing the Christians to take over Évora.

I generally do - and what day and whose time zone (plus or minus). Today is Father's Day. Mine was a Navy Veteran - a ship's cook, a boxer, a tinsmith and a fisherman. He would have lunch and a beer each day at the VFW yet never spoke once about his years in the Navy although many others have. I never had the opportunity to learn which as he committed suicide via high powered rifle through the mouth on January 4, 1999. Many US Veterans do. Their children left behind are collateral damage. To those Veterans and Fathers above ground - please think about that, for the USA has left too many children behind. And to those children above the ground who don't know what day it is? Get your noses out of your devices, look up, and please do tell us what you see. To all the Fathers out there - thank you for being there, if you could have been.
George Rogers Clark Memorial 2nd Street Bridge
Louisville, Kentucky, USA
The only free bridge left in Louisville. I hope it stays this way.
This lake is so incredibly beautiful and could be such a wonderful place for families to visit during the warmer months - this particular spot has a sandy ramp which would make a perfect little bathing beach for kids to swim and play.. It would be an ideal place for Kayak Rentals if at all feasible. There are wooded areas that could have jogging/hiking trails, also. But as with most parks in the area, there is little in the way of accessible parking for anyone hoping to fish or be near the water without needing to walk great distances making it difficult for those that are handicapped or elderly. There is a roadway surrounding the park which could easily accommodate additional parking however Metro Parks prefers to restrict this. Residents could park along this roadway however Louisville is concerned about "grass" when there is more than enough grass in this park to accommodate a car along the side of the road. All of these parks are wonderful, but without adequate accessible parking they are cheating residents out of the opportunity to enjoy them during peak season times. It would be commendable if Louisville could become even more environmentally aware, preserve, enhance and protect it's natural resources. There is one basketball court, a volleyball court, a spray park for kids and tennis courts as well as a golf course next door.
Copy of Email To Raytheon Missile Systems:
To Whom it May Concern:
Being the supposed #1 Missile Defense contractor in the world and one of the top US government subcontractors, may I make a few
suggestions:
1. Set and monitor security practices and proticols set in place or intitate them - and ensure they are
followed for the safety and security of not only your own employees but for the safety and security of
the citizens of the USA.
2. To ensure maximal productivity of your facility ensure employees are using their paid time during work hours
on work projects assigned to them.
3. To prevent backlog of parts and materials that may jeopardize the lives of our servicemen and military,
please ensure your staff is working diligently on said projects rather than external personal priorities.
If external personal priorities become necessary, allocate time off either paid or unpaid as deemed fit.
4. To prevent further burden on the US Federal Government, Veterans and taxpayers please ensure maximum productivity
by your employees and management alike to ensure work is being done during work hours - sober.
5. Please have a QA team regularly monitor your employees email activities, IM activities and texting on personal
phones activities while at work - as you can see here you have a problem, and this particular employee is not the
exception - it is the norm.
6 You have a sexual harassment clause written into your employee handbook. Enforce it. Your workplace must
be a safe environment. Both men and women employees should not fear their workplace or feel the need to provide
sexual favors in order to gain promotions or maintain their jobs, nor should that opportunity be provided. Please
check that.
7. There is obviously a problem with your hiring company, Hire Right - and whomever processes their drug screening. You may want to look into a legitimate company to do this and repeat these testings on a monthly basis as
it is evident there is an on the job alcohol and drug problem at the Louisville facility that is being participated in
by management as well. Some of your employees are Air National Guard pilots - I see a problem with this - do you?
8. You had an employee who'd lost a personal cell phone yet did not deactivate that cell phone until weeks later. Do you see a problem with that yet? And no password on that phone to lock it?
10. Your email system at the Louisville location was sloppy and careless to say the least. Employees were able to mail out
parts lists to personal emails and email personal emails out 20-30 times a day, as well as emailing sensitive
secure information to personal accounts and documents via company emails and personal cell phones with no problems.
I see a massive problem with that. And to this date it is still easily circumvented.
11. Please ensure attendance policies are adhered to and/or provide PTO/ FMLA/ Counseling as needed for employees
needing psychiatric care/substance abuse assistance/medical assistance. If those policies cannot be adhered to across
the board equally to all employees fairly please reconsider fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
Preferential treatment based on whatever reasons needs to be discussed openly by upper management or your hiring /retaining practices need to be examined more closely.
Defend, disrupt, define, dream, deliver. You, my friends, are only at the defend stage. I'm at the define stage. You do this for a living. I don't. Your employees just happened to disrupt the life of the wrong person.
At any rate, please clean up your act if you expect to defend this Nation - as it stands now you're simply draining
"the people" dry. Good Luck.

A little history on this Ohio River, which runs into the Mississippi River into the Gulf of Mexico: "It is named in Iroquoian or Seneca: Ohi:yó, lit. "Good River" or Shawnee: Pelewathiipi and Spelewathiipi. The river had great significance in the history of the Native Americans, as numerous civilizations formed along its valley." - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohio_River
