Rennee (skagitrenee) came up with a Valentine's competition representing love. I liked the idea so much that I contributed five works to the contest and decided to try and upload a work a day about love for Valentine's month of February, and this is my 6th February 2025 addition.

You must first teach a child he is loved. Only then is he ready to learn everything else.

Amanda Morgan

Children do not need us to shape them; they need us to respond to who they are.

Naomi Aldort

It’s time we stop buying the lie that we need to be hard on kids because ‘the world is hard.” Love them as hard as you can. That’s what they need.

Tara Vogler

Make the most of today because it is right here. Play that game, sing that song, read one more book, and enjoy those cuddles. Treasure all those precious little moments. Because at the end of your life, you’ll never look back and think, ‘I spent too much time with my kids.

Anon

Raising children who are hopeful and who have the courage to be vulnerable means stepping back and letting them experience disappointment, deal with conflict, learn how to assert themselves, and have the opportunity to fail. If we’re always following our children into the arena, hushing the critics, and assuring their victory, they’ll never learn that they have the ability to dare greatly on their own.

Brene Brown

To love someone is to strive to accept that person exactly the way he or she is.

Fred Rogers

Too much love never spoils our children. Children become spoiled when we substitute presents for presence.

Anthony Withman

Behind every young child who believes in himself is a parent who believed first.

Mathew L. Jacobson

Feeling heard and understood allows children to release the feelings, let go, and move on

Leaves start to show the wear and tear as we head towards the season of white. Rugged, ragged and just worn out . . .

However, this is when I find them to be the most interesting, like most older people I know! Raw wit, don't sugar coat it . . they just say what's on their mind! :)

"To be fully alive, fully human, and completely awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest. To live fully is to be always in no-man's-land, to experience each moment as completely new and fresh. To live is to be willing to die over and over again."

if it was only that easy...

This is about that moment when you decide to let go of the things you know for certain and run straight into the unknown. The freedom, the flight, the beginning of a new journey.

People love to tell me to 'get over it'. I hear that phrase at least three times each day because I spend a lot of time worrying about things that have already happened, that can't be changed; yet I still continue to frantically think of ways to make it better. I realized after a while that the problem was that I was too obsessed with the past, too addicted to thinking about how it could have been different, too stringent about not forgetting certain issues that happened. By the time I've managed to let go of the past, the present has vanished without a trace and I'm left with no time to catch up, basically meaning a vast accumulation of another truckload of worries to think about. I don't know if you're like me - a paranoid, overly-romantically-sentimentally-feelings-attached person; but I do know that being like that means you're tying yourself up in knots made up of expired emotions and forgotten memories. I need to change. You need to change. We need to learn how to let go. The sky is like the future, life is like a ferris wheel and we are like the carriages. We can either choose to stay at the bottom and not move, remaining stuck in the past; or we can choose to move on in life and obtain a clearer picture of what we want in the future. Pick the right carriage.

Yeah, what if you can't let go of something?

People must have told you once to stop holding onto something and move on. You listen to their advice and go home. But then that thought comes into your mind again, preventing you from doing your daily doings.

You think about it again, then you think about what people said to you. "Move on!"

You force your mind to open the doors to let that thought escape. You force yourself to do other things, those things that you normally wouldn't do. But you never notice.

And, at the end of the day, somehow that thought slips into your head again. You lay your head on your palms -- attempting not to cry.

And so that becomes a part of your never-changing routine.

GATHER the stars if you wish it so.

Gather the songs and keep them.

Gather the faces of women.

Gather for keeping years and years.

And then … 5

Loosen your hands, let go and say good-by.

Let the stars and songs go.

Let the faces and years go.

Loosen your hands and say good-by.

I tend to not let things go. I can say sorry and forgive but I let things bother me that took place years ago sometimes. A new Flickr friend whom I have come to adore and hope to meet someday told me to let go of that and look forward. Live in the present. Forget the things of the past that are not good and move on. Let go. That came to mind when I got the word for Mission 24. I love how these missions not only make me think about life but they also spark my creativity.

Anyway, here's to letting go of things you don't want in your head and looking forward to a new day tomorrow.

Mission 24: Present

there's a lot of things i still can't let go of. Even after 4 years. I can't comprehend how a person is supposed to completely forget about their original life and move on. Yesterday i was thinking about my past and actually started tearing up. I remembered my teacher of my grade 5 class. She was my favourite teacher and i was her favourite student. Not because i was a teacher's pet, but because she understood how i felt in her classes. I felt too..."smart". In Hong Kong everyone has to take English class, and i was the only one who was able to speak fluent english with no problems. So when our class was doing something really easy, i'd always get bored and finish it quickly and sit there. But the difference with my grade 5 teacher is that she'd realize that i finished earlier than everyone so she'd send me to do errands so i wouldn't have to sit around. i really miss having her as my teacher and as a friend. I still have her MSN and facebook, but she never has the time to check it anymore ):

i know i have to let the past go, but it's really hard.

hope everyone has a terrific thursday!!!! i'm going to the beach AGAIN haha BUT it's for the print giveaway winners :D we're choosing them today at the beach (: so stay tuned ! haha

We thought this day would never come — but here it is! There doesn't seem to be a significant enough way to fully thank all my lovely friends for the months and months and months of wonderful support, encouragement and friendship. So I will leave you all with another quote — one that I hope expresses my gratitude more eloquently …

“May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art ― write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.”

― Neil Gaiman

Thank you … and good night ♡
