negative shapes. As I usually don't sketch the shape of the sky first I didn't feel very confident.. But I enjoyed it anyway, sitting in my own house with a cup of coffee. #sketchingnowbuildings

SketchingNow buildings - lesson 1

Feeling Edges and Abstracting Shapes

I struggled with the angles and proportions

#lesson1manly I really enjoyed doing this and was happy with the result

light and dark

Not all the angles are right but mapping light and dark made the building look quite solid. #sketchingnowbuildings

it was fun to draw. I ran out of paper at the top. positioning of the windows is tricky without the edges of the building. its easier to get the overall shape more correct than with the continuous line approach.

SkN buildings Lesson 1

I feel like the angles on the front part of the roof above the 3 arched windows got away from me a bit with this one but other than that I liked focusing on the big shapes and shadows. It made the building feel less intimidating to paint. #lesson1 #lesson1manly

Lesson 1, abstracting shapes, first attempt. Bottom left, tried to draw the borders of the picture before drawing the subject church--didn't work well at all. On right, completely forgot about one side of the tower. #lesson1 #lesson1manly
