Leopard at Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium

Karnataka’s forests and wildlife are her priceless natural heritage. The State boasts of some of the largest jungle tracts south of the Vindhyas. From the majestic evergreen forests of the Western Ghats to the scrub jungles of the plains, a wide variety of habitats teem with diverse flora and fauna, some of them endemic to the region. Some of these jungles were the private preserves of former rulers. Thanks to their protection, these jungles have survived. However, some of the lesser-known ones are sanctuaries protected by the local populace.

This photo provided by the Denver Zoo shows the Zoos 10-week old snow leopard cub, Robbie, at his new outdoor exhibit Thursday, July 5, 2007, in Denver. Robbie is the zoos 11th birth of an endangered snow leopard since 1950. Born on April 25 to mother, Natasha, and father, Suba, the young cub has been behind the scenes with mom and is now spending some time exploring his outdoor habitat. I always wanted to see a leopard. Little did I know that I would see five in one amazing trip. We were out looking for Cheetahs at Xaxanaka, at first our guide called "cheetah" as this spotty cat came towards us on a track, but he quickly realised that we had another leopard! He came straight past our vehicle and we followed him closely back the way we came as he patrolled his territory, stopping occasionally to spray. Then finally he settled in some scrub and we left him to relax. What a day!

I finally figured out how to get this guy not look blurry.

I found this lovely snow leopard at the Denver Zoo this week. She's sharing the enclosure with her baby snow leopard. He's not a tiny little baby anymore, more of a snow leopard teenager. :)

This was the only time she looked at me!
