A healthy lemon tree spreading onto the footpath to cast interesting shadows on the the textured render of the wall.
My partner works in the community as a carer, and he gets to witness the best and worst in people. The former includes a small number of people who give him home grown produce as a special thanks for the care he provides with politeness and attention to detail. What they don't know is that he can't even boil an egg! Luckily, I am the cook out of the two of us and happily use what he is given. In this case, not only will this freshly picked lemon soon become part of a Lemon Delicious pudding, it also serves as a suitable subject for this week's "Looking Close on Friday" theme.
The theme for “Looking Close on Friday” for the 28th of May is “tasty minimalism”. I hope that you like my choice.
The quarantine period is a great chance to experiment, trying to improve techniques, like the lightpainting in this shot.
Thelymitra antennifera is a perennial herb, 100-250 mm high with a pinkish brown stem that is bent at the leaf and at the stem bracts. There is a single elongate leaf, 80-150 mm long x about 3 mm wide that is sheathed at the base. There are 2 pinkish brown leaf-like stem bracts. There are 1-4 flowers, each 20-30 mm wide near the top of the stem. The 3 petals and 3 sepals are similar in shape and are yellow on the inside; the sepals have red markings on the outside. The column is 7-8 mm long and has red to purple ear-like lobes; the anther is yellow. The flowers have a lemon scent. Grows in shallow wet soil over granite.

lemon tree blossom
The tree which I chose at the garden centre had beautiful lemons like all the others. But unlike them, it had a single blossom bud. I thought it would wither and die but it has just opened into a flower, scenting our living room.

Wednesday 13th December, 2023.
Why the celebration? Well all the marks, after many hectic weeks, are finally locked and loaded at NESA, ready for the dawn release, by text message, to the thousands of Higher School Certifcate students across the state of New South Wales, and beyond. This is pressure. HSC marks and the all important ATAR rank, to determine university entry.
SO, best wishes to everyone. And a super special wish for my daughter, Miss 18, who will also receive her HSC marks by text at dawn tomorrow.

I'm driving around in my car
I'm driving too fast
I'm driving too far
I'd like to change my point of view
I feel so lonely
I'm waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and I wonder
I wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon-tree
I'm turning my head up and down
I'm turning turning turning turning turning around
And all that I can see is just another lemon-tree
I'm sitting here
I miss the power
I'd like to go out taking a shower
But there's a heavy cloud inside my head
I feel so tired
Put myself into bed
While nothing ever happens and I wonder
Isolation is not good for me
Isolation I don't want to sit on the lemon-tree

These lovely lemons are growing in a neighbor's yard in Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, California. Taken with my iPhone 14 Pro Max set to raw and macro.
Visited a new waterfall Monday, Lemon Falls. It's quite a nice little surprise. I tried to find it a few years ago but never could locate it. I used the Alltrails app this time and it took me right to hit. But even with that and it's a roadside falls, it's still not visible. When I got out of my car, I could hear rushing water so I walked along the edge and there it was, hidden down in a secluded little opening.
Even though the "hike" is very short down to the stream it was steep and a bit sketchy. But if you take your time and watch your step, it's doable for sure.
Once down in this little hollow, you feel like you're so secluded and alone. It's a beautiful little waterfall surrounded with all this greenery. Compositions are limited to basically two spots. I would have liked to gotten to the other side of the stream but it was pretty deep and I saw no safe way of doing it.
Lemon Falls is definitely worth seeing. It's located off Hwy 215 from US64 in NC. You can use AllTrails to locate it or it's on the web.
Thanks for viewing my photos.

I got bored and decided to try a series with bottom lighting. Also I needed a new buddy icon.

This shot might look a bit overexposed (because of my PP with the texture) but since it contains a lemon (one of my favourite fruits) I wanted the use it for this week's theme 'Food' at the Shades of Yellow Friday group.
We're having wonderful weather here in Sweden and tomorrow there's a carneval. I'll go there and hope to get some good shots. Have a great weekend!

nigel slater's lemon & orange parfait www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2010/mar/07/nigel-slater...
a dessert with oodles of calories but delicious :)
500ml double cream whisked until soft and thick
8 tbsp lemon curd (homemade) www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/lemon_curd_68499
180g meringue (homemade) broken into pieces of various sizes flic.kr/p/2oapKrK
orange and lemon zest
all ingredients gently mixed together being careful not to overmix
spooned into a lined container
placed in freezer for minimum of four hours (can be kept in freezer for much longer)
finally, 30 minutes before serving, frozen lemon & orange parfait removed from the freezer
in the freezer, made from the same batch of ingredients, is another lemon & orange parfait the same size as above. maybe i should have halved the ingredients never mind it won't last long :)
notes
next time i'll try making it with natural yoghurt 10% cream www.aytacfood.co.uk/product/aytac-strained-yoghurt-1-kg/
once both lemon & orange parfaits are frozen, cut into slices, box and return to the freezer, each slice to be eaten as and when
