LEGO Sailing Ships!

Liking the new Ideas little sailboat #40487- fits the Studio’s aesthetic nicely

Great Protector #76177 agrees. If you’re on the fence about seeing Shang Chi, check it out! Super original, answered questions I had from earlier MCU entries, and was amazing in 4DX

"Uplink and I are a team. Between us there's nothing we can't do."

I've been meaning to revamp this old set for a while, so here it is! Bigger and sturdier than the original version, I wanted to keep the "cockpit" open while offering a bit more protection to the pilot, so I went with the cage over the top. I also made it "modular" so there are different attachment options to choose from depending on the mission.

Bring back Exo-Force!

An alternate build of set #31128 Dolphin and Turtle. I saw the seahorse build and thought the main body looked like a good shape for a little bird, so that's what I built!

I may do some instructions at some point, like I did with my little elephant before.

INSTRUCTIONS AVAILABLE: rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-202615/HardingCo./fox-31129-alte...

An alternate build of set #31129 Majestic Tiger. I was struggling to decide what to get at a recent AFOL Appreciation Day event. Then I saw the 3-in-1 Creator tiger, and I knew what I had to do.

I know the feet are a bit big, but overall I'm really pleased with how this came out.

And yes, the tail comes with an extra section for when its sat down. It's too long when it's stood up, and too short when it's sat down, so I thought I might as well give it the option of adding an extra section when needed.

1992’s Rebel Hunter from Space Police II enters the LEGO City!

Took lots of pictures of this one, had some fun, check it out!

Also known as the Space Police Prisoner Patrol, this medium sized spaceship brings back loads of memories. Two fractions of Space sub-themes are represented here with the Space Police II fig and a Blacktron prisoner, which I really like as a huge fan of Blacktron.

The prisoner’s capsule is a funny little build that looks like it would clamp down on the fig’s feet. I like how these were the standard capsule in the Space Police 2 line and could be used with their other sets.

The ship itself is pretty basic. Uses some large funky elements to add easy bulk and width. I was never a fan of the technic elements being so prominent on the top of the ship, but I love the simple drop-ship action feature! Great transparent dark green elements! Very classic LEGO.

I always figured the green and red modified facets (3x3x2) were the equivalent of police lights, subbing green for blue.

Did you have this set growing up? Like it? Find it problematic?

More ‘90s LEGO sets to be featured soon, including more Space sun-themes!

How awesome is that, I get a package in the mail today, nothing unussual, we

all get them.

But this contained a book, I had not ordered a book?

So I opened it and inside was the new LEGO book from Sarah Herman called:

"A million little Bricks"

Okay, I know Sarah, she asked me something about LEGO long ago and if she could

use some of my pictures and info for her book.

If people ask, I feel honored and I don't mind because I like to share my little

knowledge of LEGO.

Like Gary Istok shares his vast ammount of LEGO knowledge with all of us, I like his style

Anyway, so this brand new book burns in my hands and I open it and start reading

and turning pages.

And there they are, a few of my pictures in a book about LEGO

Very nice I think and feel honored.

Then I read the acknowledgments and see my name under jacket photos???

So I look but only see others....

But.......see picture, how AWESOME is that, while sitting in my bookcase,

all you see is my picture

Enjoy,

Maxx

P.s. it sure is a book for your wish list.

ISBN-10 1-62087-054-1

This book contains topics on Kiddicraft, nearly all LEGO themes, like space, castle, town, ninjago, Robo, rescue, znap, x-pods, racers, train, unitron, toy story, wolfpack, scala, spongebob, star wars etc. etc....

The back of the boxes show the color of bricks that are inside.

But you can also look through the "glass" or check the top of the box.

The bottom shows the LEGO system logo.

These boxes have white edges while the square window boxes are totally blue.

These boxes followed the square window boxes in 1967, and were them selves replaced by the 918 boxes around 1969 in Europe.

The UK had it's own size 418, these contained 13 bricks:

www.flickr.com/photos/maxx361/7183482266/in/photostream/

Size: 8.6 cm x 6.4 cm x 6.4 cm

Weight: 75 grams (this differs per color, but is about...)

Contents: 21. 2x4 bricks

The Lampropeltis is a small, fast racer with high agility and a striking colour scheme.

Named after the kingsnakes.

Hedwig! She is about a foot tall and I made a Snitch, a potions book, and Hogwarts A History. I am planning to rebuild her to life size, which would be about 2-2.5 feet tall, with the hopes of having her ready for BrickCon 2013.

"There must be hundreds of them!"

I decided to revamp a Sentry as a counterpart to my 'Mk. 2' Uplink. This upgraded version is bigger and tougher than the original, with swappable weapons modules to mount between the shoulders. I couldn't find a neat way to include control sticks at the front, so I'm just imagining that the Iron Drone piloting the machine is connected and can control it wirelessly.

Bring back Exo-Force!

Take to the skies in Charlie Crow's Cutter! This speedy ship will get you to where you need to go in no time.

The first part in a Fabuland mini-series of builds!

“Oh wow Rick, the Time Machine from the movie!”

“No Morty! This, this is ingenious! Thats not a time machine, it’s a LEGO kit. A LEGO kit that WASTES time! Now grab the wheel Morty, grandpa’s had too much to drink.”

What an excellent, satisfying build!

The action features work excellently, the details are on point and all three display options look great.

Awesome addition to the upscale cars. May have to do another shoot with this thing before it gets settled into a permanent display.

The XL-15 enters the LEGO City!

This set wouldn’t have been on my radar if it wasn’t for the buzz about the Lightyear film’s director being AFOL Angus MacLane (check out his builds on Flickr!).

Evidently, he pushed for the in-film design to have a yellow transparent canopy, reminiscent of the Classic Space elements.

He also had an interesting spot on LEGOCon, worth a check out.

The build of this one and a cat seater spaceship is substantial! As a medium sized ship it checks most boxes for me: fits all accessories, swoosh-ability is there, has mobile base in form of laptop (stretch), and droid in the Catbot (also stretch). No escape pod/rover, which loses some points when compared to the medium builds of my ‘90s childhood.

But the elements and connections this set brings to the table blow anything from my childhood away. There are a few elements that are super obscure.

Color scheme for the spaceship is great, can’t miss with light blue, white, and black with that yellow canopy.

Also bonus points for extra head/hair elements for minifigs.

Less stellar for me were the minifigs. Buzz looks pretty good, but I’d prefer the dome over a normal helmet (I’m sure that’s a movie plot detail). The other figs have nice printing, but are pretty mute brown, like something out of a Star Wars set.

The shoulder pauldrons for all of them are cumbersome to range of motion.

The rocket launcher build doesn’t really work out to be held, but I do appreciate the built up weapon/scanning accessories.

Very nice set, strong suggest for the building experience and MOC possibilities!

I left off the red stripes off the wings. Does it look cleaner? Worse? Let me know

I’ll be looking at more contemporary LEGO sets that are bringing back Classic Space soon!

Metallic green Dutch G mold, Marbon Amsterdam, Borg Warner.

These G bricks were made in the Netherlands, so very rare Dutch made LEGO bricks.

Made by Marbon in Amsterdam to test plastic.

Mold numbers go from 1 to 4.

With pip on the short side and Pat. pend.

Often found together with Dutch 2xabcd bricks with F1234 on the inside.

There are also intermediate forms with LEGO on top and F1234 on the underside, though those are even more rare than the G bricks....

For now these are the only known colors for these wheel holders without holes.

There might be a transparent one, because those exist as regular wheel holders.

Red must be a test version as they never existed in sets.

Red: 08 9

dark blue mech. The pilot seat is really cramped, but i managed to add "comfy" seats and a holographic visor. 😝

Please support this project on LEGO Ideas!

So there are two stories. the Making of first.

I might have dared Andrea to draw a ship for me and boy did she give me a doozy. Seriously..it was impossible. But come Shiptember, I was up for the challenge. This sucker is 150 studs long and just about 166 or so when transformed. I love me some Pneumatics, and technic engines. Its got lights, trains, air pumps and all that shippy goodness. Greebs to a T.. and a proud artist.

Its a Kris Blade, turned into a ship..

Next, the story of the Six Demons.

“Oh wow Rick, the Time Machine from the movie!”

“No Morty! This, this is ingenious! Thats not a time machine, it’s a LEGO kit. A LEGO kit that WASTES time! Now grab the wheel Morty, grandpa’s had too much to drink.”

The MT-91 is an explorer's best friend in the icy wastes of the Martian poles. Chunky wheels driven by a heavy-duty V4 engine allow this mighty machine to cross almost any terrain, and there's enough storage for tools and samples in the back.

And of course, the cabin is well insulated and heated!

Built for Febrovery '22!

And yes, the pistons are connected to the wheels. Might stick a little video up at some point.

The LEGO Aquazone Deep Sea Predator hasn’t surfaced since 1995. What’s new with LEGO?

This may be my ultimate nostalgic LEGO set. It’s not all that big, but the vibrant translucent orange, the chromed elements, and the prints are the coolest!

This set was fighting in space just as much as it was the underwater threats in my younger self’s imagined narrative.

Loved this set as a kid, I parted ways with it around 2002, and now I’m very happy to have it in my adult collection.

This was my first time getting an order from BrickLink: the process, price, seller’s turnaround, and condition of the pieces were all outstanding!

I suspect I’ll be getting more shots with this set posted in the future

An alternate build of set #31130 Sunken Treasure Mission. When I saw all those lovely Mixel joints I knew I had to build this! I could've tried to be a bit more creative with the sub/shell, but I thought it was already a pretty good shape for a hermit crab shell, so why change it?

Scientific name: Pylochelidae Gigantus

An alternative build for set #31133 White Rabbit. I had originally done a sort of rabbit-themed robot/mech, but I wasn't really that happy with it. Then I realised that the parts that are used as the rabbit's feet in the main build would be perfect to create the beautiful fluffy wings of a swan (specifically a Mute Swan), so here we are!

I may do some instructions at some point.

Editor's note: I removed the legs for "swim mode".

My mom had one of those Big Banana skateboards as a kid, so I dug her skateboard out of the garage and made a LEGO version of it!

On display at the 'Speel! De Kunst van het Spel' (Play! The art of the game exhibition) at the Cobra Museum of Modern Art, 2006

Each box contains a set of bricks, that can be used to build the element of a concentration camp as shown on the box. All elements in the sets as well as those depicted on the boxes have either been taken from the mass-produced sets of LEGO bricks, or have been slightly altered by the artist. The prisoners are played by smiling skeletons from the "Pirate" set, while slightly modified figurines from the "Police Station" set appear as tormentors. We also encounter the captain of the camp and the psychopathic doctor, conducting experiments on prisoners. Libera says: "Initially, I was considering building a Soviet gulag, but that didn't work - it failed to refer to the images I've had in my head and did not communicate my ideas. My intention was to reflect on rationalism and education."

The Crystal Explorer Sub from 1995’s Aquanauts enters the LEGO city!

Another great AquaZone submarine, this time a large yellow sub. The vibrant color scheme pops with yellow on black and blue, highlighted with neon orange space elements and those awesome blue windshields!

I didn’t have this sub as a kid, but this sub takes my favorite aspects of the Deep Sea Predator (#6155) and upscales the playable space. While some of the interior is narrow towards the stern, the amount of storage space is significant.

Prints are great with this set and it includes several chromed elements, which are always welcome.

I’m a huge fan of the helm’s design and ability to stand the minifig captain up properly. Overall, stoked to have this ship in the collection.

What are your thoughts on this ship? Did you have it as a kid?

As always, I really enjoyed getting shots of this and experimenting with LEGO and flight stands. More retro 90’s set to be featured soon

A close-up of the bricks, glued upon a cardboard background.

The warping of the bricks can be seen in the white brick, this means these bricks are made of a plastic known as CA (Cellulose Acetat).

Modern bricks are made of a newer plastic called ABS (Acrylonitril Butadien Styrene) and do not warp.

The five colors are shown, white, transparent, yellow, red and blue.

No black yet at this time.

There are 2 bricks cut open and one cut in half, this shows the inside.

Also the four transparent bricks with orange tube lets us have a good look at the inner workings of this new brick.

This brick was used in other places too: www.flickr.com/photos/maxx361/4976859687/in/set-721576274...

The tube is what set LEGO apart from all other brick and finally got the Kiddicraft ghost of it's back.

Part of my 2x4 brick collection.

This part became to big for my normal frames, so I had to find a new way to store and display these.

These must be in my top 3 of nicest bricks, if only because I grew up with these new logo bricks.

Since it is nearly impossible to tell a normal red 3001old from a red Bayer, I have only confirmed Bayers in here.

One day, I hope to find "normal" colors.

These are drawers with 48x48 baseplates cut to size.

Update:

Some of these turned out to be BASF or are now in other sub-catagories.

More turned out to be Grangemouths Borg Warner and Dutch G bricks.

An ancient and mysterious temple lies in the heart of the jungle, long since abandoned but strangely inviting...

Far more deadly than its namesake, the Manta is a fast, powerful and highly-maneuverable fighter craft that forms the backbone of the Blacktron fleet. This ship is built around a tough, solid core that provides optimum pilot protection, and power comes from the same units found in the Fantail escape craft; however, they are tuned slightly differently to provide better efficiency and comfort for regular flight, rather than the urgency of fleeing a battle ASAP.

Offensive capabilites are provided by a battery of laser cannon: two fixed guns in front of the cockpit, and two rotating guns mounted at the wings. These rotating units can be programmed to lock on to targets, which is especially useful in intense battle situations.

You don't want to get caught by this ray's sting!

You know summer has arrived on the island of Mata Nui when you hear the humming of this magnificent little Rahi. The Le-Wahi Bumbler is native to the Le-Wahi jungles, but has successfully spread around the rest of the island and can also be found on some of the smaller islets around the coast.

It is an important pollinator and part of the cycle of life on Mata Nui. Its large size and bright colours are a deterrent for most predators, but these critters are actually fairly docile, and can even make great companion Rahi with enough patience.

Here's a little build I've been playing with for a few weeks. It took a few passes, but I'm pleased with the end result. I need to try and work on blending System and constraction elements more.

Might not post anything for a while (not that I do very often anyway lol) after this. I didn't make it past the preliminary round for the Bio-Cup, which has got me pretty bummed out. I know there's the redemption rounds, but I don't know if I feel up to it. We'll see.
