Let’s kick off our Poland series with one of the many power plants we were exploring on our adventure. On a lonely island in the middle of a large Polish city, this defunct but not yet completely abandoned facility is located. We gathered intel on how to infiltrate this massive structure and learned about CCTV on the property. So, to get on the site, we needed to be creative.

I have a wonderful friend who I treasure more then my own self. I say that because despite all odds against them they have fought a helluva demon that still likes to taunt and try to drag them back into Hell. The same demon took my Dad from me...
Each time I see or talk to them, I feel blessed for I never know if I might not see them again...or used to...they fight harder now and the Demon's taunts and seductions get quieter for them...I don't worry as much as I used to.
They aren't who they were now. They are much better. They are stronger.
They will win.

Somehow though, when I talk to them, they give me the vibe that listening to Janis Joplin does. They come from the same part of the world, so you never know - maybe Janis came back.
I know my compadre came back again...
My avatar sits and ponders if she will return in this picture as at the time, she had left...quickly...
To the pretty ginger who crinkles her nose so cutely and tells me of travels far and wide...I love you in ways that words can't describe...and I hope..so hope..you heard Janis for that song the way I do and never ever will be the "Little Girl Blue" anymore...
This was part of the 124 of 148 pics Flickr ate on me...luckily I remembered the song and who it was for...
Love you all...especially Crinkle Nose;-)

The town of Wünsdorf was once the largest military base in Europe. The town was the headquarters of the Soviet forces in communist East Germany and had a population of 60,000 people, 50,000 of whom where soldiers. When the Soviet army left in 1994 the population dropped to just 6,000.
The town’s history as a military base dates back to before World War one. It was the headquarters of the High Command of the Germany army during World War II, and was a garrison town long before the Soviets moved in.
Wunsdorf was a closed town during the time it was occupied by the Soviet forces, and effectively became a Soviet town in the heart of Germany. A daily delivery via a direct rail link from Moscow allowed the town to isolate itself from the surrounding areas, having its own shops, theatre, leisure facilities and hospital.
The Haus Der Offiziere had it's own leisure facilities such as a theatre and swimming pool. A giant statue of Lenin stands tall in front of the central building.

Back in 2018 I got escorted out by two very unfriendly Hungarian security guards on my birthday. Never got to see the building or the control room. I decided this year was the year to see it. So I jumped on a plane, took the bus and wandered alone into the unknown. Nice to finally see her after years of dreaming.
