Ginnungagap, the Yawning Void faced toward the northern quarter, became filled with heaviness, and masses of ice and rime, and from within, drizzling rain and gusts; but the southern part of the Yawning Void was lighted by those sparks and glowing masses which flew out of Múspellheim. In the northern part of Ginnungagap lay the intense cold of Niflheim, and to the southern part lay the equally intense heat of Muspelheim. Since I was always fumbling in the dark for a light to read my Butterfly exposure timer--and I also thought it'd be cool to design and build a microcontroller-powered project from the ground up--here's the prototype Exposure Timer Mark II.
The MCU is an ATMEGA48V with 4K program flash, about 2.5K consumed by the timer program. Features timed exposures up to 99m59s, delay between exposures, total exposure count, and mirror lockup. Also has adjustable brightness levels (from "readable in daylight" to "will not scorch your retinas at night"). A back-of-the-envelope estimate would give over a solid month of operation time from a pair of AAAs at the lowest brightness setting.
Now I just need to find a box for it. In retrospect, I should have found a matching protoboard/box before starting.

Ah, now that is more like Akihabara- thank goodness I listened to the guy in the doner kebab stall and ventured here. This is a electronic display in a show window which advertises the Akihabara Entertainment Area. And of course, entertainment in this part of town means electronic and character based entertainment, DVD parlours and karoke bases The character of Akihabara has been changing constantly over the decades and continues to do so. In the last decade, Akihabara has emerged as a center of Japanese otaku (techno geeks obsessed with video games) and anime (hand drawn computer based animation) culture, and dozens of stores specializing in anime, manga, retro video games, figurines, card games, and other collectibles have filled the spaces between the electronics retailers.
