Gail Straub's lecture addresses how to put our compassion into action. How do we make compassion real in everyday ways; caring for a child, an aging parent, a difficult family member, a troubled co-worker, as well as caring for social justice and ecological causes.

AKIKO BUSCH: MFA AC+D LECTURE

The MFA in Applied Craft + Design welcomes Akiko Busch as part of the 2014-2015 Graduate Visiting Artist Lecture Series.
Akiko Busch is the author of Geography of Home, The Uncommon Life of Common Objects, and Nine Ways to Cross a River. The Incidental Steward, her collection of essays about citizen science and stewardship, was published by Yale University Press in 2013 and awarded an Honorable Mention in the Natural History Literature category of 2013 National Outdoor Book Awards. She was a contributing editor at Metropolis magazine for twenty years, and her essays have appeared in numerous national magazines, newspapers, and exhibition catalogues. She has taught at the University of Hartford and Bennington College, and currently teaches at The School of Visual Arts in New York City. Her work has been recognized by grants from the Furthermore Foundation, NYFA, and Civitella Ranieri.

The Centre for European Legal Studies (CELS) hosts an annual public lecture in honour of Lord Mackenzie-Stuart, the first British Judge to be President of the Court of Justice.
The 2020 Mackenzie Stuart Lecture was delivered by Professor Paul Craig FBA, Emeritus Professor of English Law, Oxford University, under the title 'Membership of the EU: Formal and Substantive Dimensions' on 5 February 2020.

Ban Ki-moon, United Nations Secretary-General, gave the inaugural IISS Fullerton Lecture 'Securing our Future: Singapore, the Region and Beyond' on Friday 23 March 2012 at the Fullerton Hotel in Singapore. Dr Tim Huxley, Executive Director of The International Institute for Strategic Studies-Asia in Singapore, introduced the IISS Fullerton Lectures. Mr Peter Ho, Member of the International Council of the IISS, former head of the Singapore Civil Service and former Permanent Secretary of Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chaired the lecture.
