The Sir John T. Gilbert Commemorative Lecture, 2006.
The Gilbert Lecture Series was inaugurated in 1998, the year which marked the centenary of the death of Sir John T. Gilbert. The aim of the series is to celebrate the life and work of Gilbert, and the history of Dublin, the city whose past he wished to uncover and bring before a wider public.
The ninth Sir John T. Gilbert Lecture: Professor Andrew Carpenter's Mrs Harris, her pocket and her petition: some thoughts on Swift's Dublin Castle poems of 1699-1701, was delivered on Monday, 23 January 2006 at Dublin City Library & Archive, Pearse St., and chaired by the Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Bronwen Maher.
This is a lecture I led on the Apps for Grand people module I am leading on the Digital Interaction Design course, at the University of Dundee.

In todays session we explored the work of Sunni Brown and visual note-taking. You can follow in our foot steps by following the links below. As a class we took visual notes to the 'visual notetaking 101' lecture, you can see my notes above.

Another of the grand lecture halls at Princeton University. This is Palmer Hall, former home to the Princeton Physics Department.
Andy gave his first lecture on solar eclipses in general and our eclipse in particular. This lecture was delayed by a day or so in order to get the laptop actually talking to the projector, which required the attention of several of the techers and the sacrifice of several paper clips.
There were several more lectures over the next few days, but this is the only one I attempted to take photographs at.
RAW converted twice in ACR and merged with a gradient mask applied to 16-bit layers to bring out Andy's face with reasonable skin color in otherwise really bad lighting, while preserving the image on the screen. The result was reduced to 8-bit channels and saved as JPEG.

A photo from my first lecture I did in my hometown Leopoldsburg. I teached the kids how to make a monster with pieces of paper :)
