“It is so hard to leave—until you leave. And then it is the easiest goddamned thing in the world.”

It has been the most beautiful day today. Sunny and gorgeous. I sat out front in the sun with all the dogs, the duck, the goose and just took bird photos all day.

Thought I'd share this one. I really liked it. Hope you do too

A perfect day

Wishing you a great start to the new week and a very blessed one !!

I am afraid that the Prime Minister is not going to let you take a vacation. It would be much safer if you just stayed here with me.

Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday

Entrance to the Cittadella in Victoria, Gozo. Also known as Il-Kastell, the Castle, in Gozo, this is the old fortified capital of Gozo. The hill has been inhabited since the Bronze Age, and it is believed to have been the acropolis of the Punic-Roman city of Gaulos or Glauconis Civitas. The site was converted into a castle during the middle ages. It's defences however were obsolete by the 16th century, and in 1551 an Turkish Ottoman force invaded Gozo and sacked the Cittadella taking the majority of the Gozitan population prisoners. A major reconstruction of the southern walls of the Cittadella was undertaken between 1599 and 1622, transforming it into a gunpowder fortress. The new fortifications were criticized in later decades, and plans to demolish the entire citadel were made multiple times in the 17th and 18th centuries, but were never carried out. The castle saw action during the French invasion and subsequent uprising in 1798; in both cases the fortress surrendered without much of a fight. It remained a military installation until it was decommissioned on 1 April 1868 by the British. SOURCE Wikipedia.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cittadella_(Gozo)

In this photo you can see the grasses of the previous one in their natural habitat.

We were leaving the Lutersee, starting our descent to the Oberalpsee. We seem to be heading to the northeast, but in fact you need to go to the south to descend into the valley.

When a picture appears---you need to act! So, I shot this through my windshield while leaving the little town of Liberty Pole in southwest Wisconsin.

The contrast between the two types of transportation, the yellow line, the trio of riders, and their tools in the back of the carriage said push the button!

This photo was taken during a meeting of vintage vehicles in the town of Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, which coincided with a rally of classic buses. This is why, all of a sudden, the city centre was replete of old automobiles. It was the nearest thing to a trip to the past.

Now that I must try to leave it all behind

Did you see what you have done to me?

So hard to justify

Slowly it's passing by

So hard I was trying

Tomorrow I'll sill be crying

How could you hide

your lies,

your lies

Here I am

Seeing you once again

My mind is so far away

My heart is so closed to stay

Too proud to fight

I'm walking back into night

The last to leave the nest. I suspect this was the one small chick in the nest and a little reluctant to make the jump. Later in the day it had made it to the yard and was very protected by mom and dad. Then the oddest thing happened, I was sitting by my computer and heard some noise coming from the deck. Wouldn't you know it but the chick was right by the door hopping around! It flew about 20 feet to the lawn and rested for a while. The mom would land and coax it to follow in the direction of the woods. Every so often she would take flight into the woods, only to return when the chick stayed put. This went on for several times until at last, the chick took off and disappeared into the woods! And this is the end of my report on the robin chick family. :)

I think it was Bernard Sumner that said "I hate writing the same song twice....actually on reflection make that four times!"

Bit like me with photos on the same day......I'm thinking I can probably milk 4 from my lockdown walk of the 23rd of April! Sorry in advance.

This Northern Shrike turned down our offer of tofu, preferring to impale small birds and rodents.

Not the best IQ - image quality - on feet and facing away from the camera, of course. I think I heard, No Tofu!, as it flew.

Wimp.

'A predatory songbird, the Northern Shrike breeds in taiga and tundra and winters in southern Canada and the northern United States. It feeds on small birds, mammals, and insects, sometimes impaling them on spines or barbed wire fences.'
