Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

I was ambling along Church Street in downtown Toronto when some flowers and this picket fence caught my attention. I stopped and crouched down to take some shots as a young man sat on the adjacent wall, watching me. After a while he asked what I was taking photos of, so I showed him and we got talking.
He told me that the building provides housing for Native Americans who are homeless or in need and that, inter alia, he was part Native American and part Central European, if I recall... I do remember that he had beautiful eyes, light... bluish maybe. We spoke for a while, exchanged a hug and I carried on walking towards St. Michal's Cathedral, site of another curious encounter.

The relay is a friendly competition between local equestrian teams and nationwide rodeo competitors like Henderson. BPIR is recognized as the only black traveling rodeo and was created to educate people about the history of the black cowboys and the development of the West.
Shooting high-speed events indoors without a flash was an interesting challenge, especially with a body that doesn't handle low light situations well. Lesson learned for next year!
