Still life seems to go over like a lead balloon, so, let's add to that really happening party, you crazy hipsters! :)

A multiple exposure of the leaded lights shadows in our small rear lobby.

Navigational beacons were first placed at the entrance to the Tamar River in 1804. Two new towers were built in 1882, this one at Middle Point not far from the Pilot Station, and another at She Oak Point.

Originally the lights were powered by sperm whale oil (hundreds of whales were harpooned on the south east coast of Tasmania during the 19th century), but then changed to carbide lamps.

This ingenious method involved solid carbide being placed in a tank with water dripping on it. When the keeper opened a valve the resulting acetylene gas passed through a pipe to the mantle and was lit each night. The white carbide waste was used to paint the towers.

The light was electrified in 1955. As a sign of the times, these lights are no longer lit (although the original lenses remain in place). Instead there is an LED array to guide the shipping lane.

My grandson is leading the way for the rest of the family on an Easter weekend hike on the Bruce Trail.

A pair of DMIR SD38-2s are busy breaking down a cut of cars brought over by the Pokegoma Transfer on the East Lead at Proctor Yard. Of the 6 original SD38-2s purchased by the DMIR, just 3 remain on the CN roster in 2023.

Cadouin is famous for its abbey. Founded in 1115 by Robert d'Arbrissel and taken over by Cistercian monks in 1119 it became one of the most important in the area. It became a pilgrim centre due to a piece of cloth said to be part of Christ's shroud. Pilgrims flocked to the Abbey which became part of the pilgrim route to Saint Jacques de Compostelle in Spain. Important pilgrims welcomed by the abbey included Eleanor of Aquitaine and Richard the Lion Heart.

JR-04 pulls loaded autorack cars out of FAPS (Foreign Auto Preparation Services) off the FAPS Lead in Port Newark with GP40-2 4405. This section of Port Newark is almost entirely street running, and rarely photographed.

One of the memories from Yesteryear, My first introduction of auto body repair, back then the technique available, Leading , brazing, and of course when available an undamaged replacement body part, I learned Leading and brazing , a time and Labor intensive art. anywhere rust can form, and also more prevalent where road salt used for snow / ice removal, used. This is a Mercury. that more expensive Ford , of it's day, I was told it had been leaded.

Tall Ship Leaded Leader was built in 1892 for William Robbens by the yard of A W Gibbs at Galmpton Creek on the River Dart, just two miles across the hill from Brixham. She cost him £1,100

A few weeks after leaving the Dart on her maiden voyage Leader put to sea on her first fishing trip.

The Royal Aircraft Factory (RAF) was the new name in 1912 for the Army Balloon Factory, by then under civilian control. They produced a number of successful designs in WW1, of which this, the 'Scout Experimental 5a', was by far the best. The SE 5a, which entered service in 1917, has been described as the Spitfire of WW1, as it was both fast and manoeuvrable. Lead designer was Henry Folland, a famous name in British Aviation.

Although several flying replicas have been built, the one in this picture is an original - I think the only flyable original out of the 5,000 or so built - and is owned and operated by The Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden aerodrome in England.

The City of Lead is located in Lawrence County, South Dakota. In 2020 the population was 2,982.

Like nearby Deadwood the town was born out of a gold rush. Until it closed in 2002 the Homestake Mine was the largest gold mine in the Western hemisphere.

Magpie lead mine stands in stunning countryside around Sheldon in the Derbyshire Peak District. It's quite prominent in the open countryside and creates an unusual and interesting image. It's also very accessible day or night. There is a preservation group, and with Lottery funding they are working hard to make this into more of a visitor attraction within the already popular National Park. I was pleased to see these new information boards sympathetically shielded within a roofless ruin so that they do not spoil the aesthetics of the site. I noticed that they are having an Open Day on Sunday September 17th with free guided tours. There are many shafts and tunnels and an old engine and pumps (I think) which I suspect might be working on the visitor day. But you can walk into this site and see it for yourself 24/7

WA-1 / Y120? comes off the south end of the Waterville yard lead with 4 cars to sort and manage in the yard. Although CSX takes the reigns in this area, the timing and train coordination of Pan Am still lurks.

When I ordered this ten-foot, all cotton, no hardware rope, it was mainly just for decoration, possibly to carry with me helping at a friends ranch, even though it's not necessary around Jesse.

Without getting the cart in front of the horse, or divulging too much information, something very exciting is happening :-)

Nice little area to walk along, with the mix of woods and the River Ayr beside.

when the woman who lived here started approaching us, i was worried she'd shoo us trespassers off her property. instead, when she saw we were photographers, she introduced herself as Nora and said, "here, let me show you the most beautiful place in Montana--nobody knows about it," and lead us behind her house. she lived on the only hill in the middle of a grand valley, and apparently owned the entire hill. she showed us the huge basalt quarry she and her family own, and the flat plateau on top of the hill. you could see forever from up there. i hope to post more pictures from this place soon. many thanks, Nora for your hospitality! what an incredible part of the world.
