Just back from a great trip to the Greek island of Kalymnos. My main purposes were rock-climbing and taking pictures. Sometimes it needs the skills of both. In this shot, taken at the Grande Grotta I captured the Spanish climber Eduardo Recio in a difficult route. Getting levelled with him took me some effort. But I'm satisfied with the result.The rugged structure of the rocks puts a dramatic accent to the foreground, as does the island of Telendos to the background. Using the ND-grad filter diagonal I was able to balance the light between fore- and background.

On the rough granite rocks it's good climbing. Always enough grip. The great weather makes the Ecrins a perfect place for all sorts of climbing activities.
Elan Marko climbs through the overhanging roof of the Seamstress (5.12c) at McCrae Lake. The Seamstress is one of the best 5.12 climbs in Ontario as it transitions from face climbing to massive overhung roof to extremely tiny crimps with a great lakeside backdrop.

Climbing Scimitar, The Second Pyramid, Girraween National Park. Marcia takes the lead on this interesting climb and leads like a champion. I sat in comfort on the First Pyramid with a long lens taking photos. I did climb last and clear the gear though. That was a little scary on it's own as there was a sneaky storm heading in on the horizon and a giant granite dome is not something you want to be stuck on during an electrical storm.
