The lead object on the left probably started out as a button or hem weight. It has been modified to make it into a toy known as a whirligig. String passed through the holes allowed for tension to be imparted causing spinning that resulted in a humming noise. Most likely Victorian. The object on the right appears to be a well made plain cast lead weight 33mm. in dia. 6mm. thick and weighing 50g. The face showing carries slight markings, but being very worn and smooth makes any identification impossible. The other face is pitted but appears to have a central raised symbol, maybe a crown or a rose, but here again, wear makes identification impossible. Note the impression of a limestone fossil embedded in the weight, a mistake made in the casting process. This is possibly a trade weight of the 16/18c. Found in the Lune Valley, Cumbria. UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, jointly with UNICEF, lead the largest global programme to accelerate the abandonment of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). In line with Zero Tolerance Day for FGM on 6 February 2017, UNFPA lead a mission to Kenya's Narok County to document UNFPAâs active participation to encourage the abandonment of the practice. Female Genital Mutilation, FGM, involves altering or injuring the female genitalia for non-medical reasons. It negatively impacts a girlâs psychological, emotional and physical well-being, education, health and gender equality rights, and is internationally recognized as a human rights violation. Maasai culture, often praised and used as a tourist attraction, encourages FGM which is views as the key to success in all aspects of life. Many Maasai families cannot afford to give their children formal schooling, so to protect their daughters from lives of poverty, they choose to marry them off at a young age. Because Maasai girls are traditionally considered children until they are circumcised, it is seen as imperative for a Maasai girl to undergo the circumcision rite before she is married making FGM a precursor to child marriage. This strongly ingrained cultural belief propels families to go to great lengths to complete the circumcision. Both FGM and child marriage negatively impact long-term poverty reduction and development outcomes. In collaboration with World Vision Kenya as an implementing partner UNFPA identify Narok County in Maasailand as one of eight targeted counties in Kenya where UNFPA-supported interventions are transforming and saving lives of women and girls in the county.

Nur Effendi (Makasar) dengan WeHelp.id telah banyak membantu penanganan masalah kekerasan terhadap perempuan dan anak.
Agustina Dwi Handayani (Jakarta) yang menginisiasi program School of Life dan membantu anak putus sekolah serta mencoba mencetak banyak sociopreneur.
Mereka juga telah berhasil melakukan fund raising dengan platform seperti kitabisa.com dll. untuk mendanai program-programnya.
Saya sebagai Ketua Yayasan BCF, didampingi Pak Imbang sebagai CEO BCF tukar pikiran dan berdiskusi bersama anak-anak muda ini. Senang sekali melihat semangat, inovasi, dan program/gerakan nyata yang mereka lakukan di masyarakat.
Melalui BCF, kami tidak hanya membantu anak muda berprestasi untuk mengakses pendidikan lebih tinggi, tetapi juga mencoba mencetak sebanyak mungkin pemimpin masa depan yang akan memajukan Indonesia.
