Lead, kindly light.
You lead me, kindly light,
in the darkness that surrounds me.
Black is the night
and my home is far away.
You lead me,
Protect my pace.
I do not ask to see
the distant horizon.
One step at a time
is enough for me.
John Henry Newman.

GUIDAMI, LUCE GENTILE.
Guidami tu, luce gentile,
nel buio che mi avvolge.
Nera è la notte
e la mia casa è lontana.
Guidami tu,
custodisci il mio passo.
Non ti chiedo di vedere
l'orizzonte lontano.
Un passo alla volta
è abbastanza per me.
John Henry Newman.
Guide-moi, douce lumière.
Tu me conduis, douce lumière,
dans l'obscurité qui m'entoure.
Noire est la nuit
et ma maison est loin.
Tu me conduis,
Protéger mon étape.
Je ne demande pas à voir
l'horizon lointain.
Une étape à la fois
c'est assez pour moi.
John Henry Newman.

One view of Federal Mill #3, once the largest lead mine and processing plant in the world. At its height, 4500 people worked here. Now a Missouri state historic site, it includes a museum and additional exhibits, with more planned for the near future. A fascinating place, huge in scale, with many interesting photo opportunities.
In 2017 planning was well under way to redevelop Barrie's old Molson Brewery lands and widen Big Bay Point Rd. Prior to commencing this work, the brewery lead had to be removed.
Through years of inactivity, the lead had become completely overgrown with vegetation and small trees which had to be cleared. A week prior to taking this photograph I noticed that the obstructing vegetation had been removed and is was now possible for a train to pass through.
The morning of August 31 was nice and sunny and as I drove home from work I made a point to track down the day's BCRY train. I found them as they were crossing Anne St and sure enough, in tow, were two modified gondolas that I assumed could be utilized for track removal.
This shot shows the crew shoving the two grass covered gondolas down the brewery lead. They slowly pushed them back across Big Bay Point Rd where they would be parked just inside the fence gate on the old Molson property.
Their work done, the crew would then depart the lead, leaving the actual rail removal for another day in the near future.

One of the memories from Yesteryear, My first introduction of auto body repair, back then the technique available, Leading , brazing, and of course when available an undamaged replacement body part, I learned Leading and brazing , a time and Labor intensive art. anywhere rust can form, and also more prevalent where road salt used for snow / ice removal, used. This is a Mercury. that more expensive Ford , of it's day, I was told it had been leaded.

Lead Mines Chimney at Carrickgollogan Hill, Dublin, Ireland
The now disused lead mine chimney was part of Ballycorus lead mine. Lead mining and smelting took place from the early 19th Century until it was closed in the 1920s.
My last visit to the Lead Mines Chimney was back on 3rd February 2018.

The City of Lead is located in Lawrence County, South Dakota. In 2020 the population was 2,982.
Like nearby Deadwood the town was born out of a gold rush. Until it closed in 2002 the Homestake Mine was the largest gold mine in the Western hemisphere.
Magpie lead mine stands in stunning countryside around Sheldon in the Derbyshire Peak District. It's quite prominent in the open countryside and creates an unusual and interesting image. It's also very accessible day or night. There is a preservation group, and with Lottery funding they are working hard to make this into more of a visitor attraction within the already popular National Park. I was pleased to see these new information boards sympathetically shielded within a roofless ruin so that they do not spoil the aesthetics of the site. I noticed that they are having an Open Day on Sunday September 17th with free guided tours. There are many shafts and tunnels and an old engine and pumps (I think) which I suspect might be working on the visitor day. But you can walk into this site and see it for yourself 24/7
I've been collecting at least half a dozen out of Saxon's coat after walkies ... at least they've mowed down here now, so it doesn't seem so bad

And now here's a better look at Collin's awesome work. When Billy and I were making Linda's Rifle, I wanted to give her something to sorta contrast this. She would have a long-range, super-powerful semi auto cannon, while J gets a fast crowd-controlling bullet firehose. Her rifle was also designed to look more refined and sophisticated (as sophisticated as a 7-foot long murdercannon can be anyway) compared to the brutal and dirty-looking minigun. As for what this thing has going for it I'd say it's not that different from real-life miniguns besides the man-portability and obviously lightweight. Probably fires some armor-piecing rounds a bit bigger than what would be found in your standard-issue ARs, 2500 RPM, the works. The main thing I wanted done with this when I sent it to Collin was a proper ammo box since I could never get it right on my own. I also know a man-portable minigun is seriously unrealistic, but fuck realism. Nothing but a killjoy. Also, while the minigun is all Collin's work with some of my input, the helmet was a gift from cmorgenweck (though I whipped up that damaged visor myself)
