With the sun quickly setting behind the mountains in the west, Union Pacific's Permanente Local catches the final few minutes of direct light at the pair of engines work their way up to Lehigh Cement for the final time. Much of the area has become covered in shadows with the exception of a small section of track that is unobstructed from the sun's rays. Once clear of this zone, the remainder of the trip would be completed under the cover of darkness. While things were peaceful down where I captured this photo, there was quite the kerfluffle a few hundred few away from me up the hill as another group of photographers got hassled by security. By the time I walked up to where my car was parked, security was blocking the road west of here, meaning any photos at the cement plant itself would be unattainable.
A BC Rail C40-8M is the lead unit on BNSF train H-BRCKCK1-14A tied down on Main Track 1 of the NS Kansas City District-BNSF Brookfield Sub at Block 224 by 10th St. while NS train D70 with an Ex-BN SD60M on the point holds on Main Track 2 while waiting to be called down to the signal by the BNSF Ustick Disptatcher.
The H-BRCKCK1-14A arrived here at Block 224 not too long after 0600 after making an overnight run across the BNSF Brookfield Sub. The crew died here at 1230, and the train was never given a new crew until around midnight.
NS train D70 got here around 1400, and it wasn't around 1700 that the BNSF Ustick Dispatcher gave them permission to come down to the signal and head across the Hannibal Bridge. D70 is bringing autoracks across town from NS's Voltz Yard near Birmingham, MO to BNSF's Argentine Yard in Kansas City, KS, and it's using power off the BNSF transfer to NS's Avondale Yard from the previous night. 9/15/17.

Printed on Bergger Prestige FB (8x10") and developed in Moersch Eco 4812.
Toned in Moersch MT7 Iron Blue and subsequently in Moersch Lead Acetate (1+2). Moersch MT7 Clearing solution used between tonings, still some "bleeding" from the frame.

The iron joggle is secured with lead. Other holes have been filled with lead to hold hooks for cooking implements. Today we would use a Rawlplug (patented in 1919) or similar plug.
Marmion Shaft at the Bawdwin lead/zinc mine in north-east Myanmar. It was sunk in 1914 down to the sixth (adit) level at c700ft and was subsequently deepened to serve 14 levels in total to a depth of 1700ft. The winding house contains two electric winders manufactured at the Siemens Works of English Electric at Stafford in the UK in 1925. The ore is trammed out of the mine via a two mile adit known as "Tiger Tunnel".

C504 and G513 lead container train 1845 to Kelso through the curves at Sodwalls early in the day. SSR run this train for Grainforce carrying Grain, Rice, Logs and other commodities to and from Sydney approximately 3 times per week.

CP 252 passing the Plattsburgh station. There was a better than not chance that 7010 would lead but the railroad works in mysterious ways so CP's new heritage locomotive once again trails behind on the coming daylight run down the D&H.

The lead unit of the Toledo Hauler catches some sun west of Eddyville. 3002/102 is a unique slug set built for the N&W and purchased by the P&W. Operation Lifesaver markings and an M3 horn distinguish it further from the rest of PNWR's roster. The sister slug set, 3001/101, has been out of service for a couple of years now with mechanical problems.
