The iron joggle is secured with lead. Other holes have been filled with lead to hold hooks for cooking implements. Today we would use a Rawlplug (patented in 1919) or similar plug.

Rollei RPX 25 in Rodinal 1+100, semistand 1 h.
Printed on Bergger Prestige FB (8x10") and developed in Moersch Eco 4812.
Toned in Moersch MT7 Iron Blue and subsequently in Moersch Lead Acetate (1+2). Moersch MT7 Clearing solution used between tonings, still some "bleeding" from the frame.

Marmion Shaft at the Bawdwin lead/zinc mine in north-east Myanmar. It was sunk in 1914 down to the sixth (adit) level at c700ft and was subsequently deepened to serve 14 levels in total to a depth of 1700ft. The winding house contains two electric winders manufactured at the Siemens Works of English Electric at Stafford in the UK in 1925. The ore is trammed out of the mine via a two mile adit known as "Tiger Tunnel".
Alco heaven!! This is the New York Central and they owned a lot of Alco’s produced right here in New York State at Schenectady. The sun has swung around to the western sky, the shadows are getting longer and this empty coal train rolls out of the huge NYC yard in East Syracuse, NY on 07-07-1966. Clean FA2 number 1086 an a B-unit sister lead three RS3’s while two Alco switchers sort cars in the distance. 1019

A pair of DMIR SD38-2s are busy breaking down a cut of cars brought over by the Pokegoma Transfer on the East Lead at Proctor Yard. Of the 6 original SD38-2s purchased by the DMIR, just 3 remain on the CN roster in 2023.
The plan was to take a view of the Dalesman excursion approaching the foot crossing just before Ingman Lodge. The sweeping rain put me off that idea! The nearby entrance to a lead mine adit long since blocked up provided me with pretty decent shelter whilst I waited and then framed 45699 Galatea as it worked its way up the Long Drag.
A Pan Am loaded grain train, lead by a pair of BNSF GE's, is about to cross the Green River in Greenfield MA. The train will stop in East Deerfield for a fresh crew, then continue east towards Ayer for unloading.

Class 20 pairing of 20205 and 20007 whistle past Whitlingham Junction on Monday 29th December 2025. The ROMIC owned locomotives lead the first section of UK Railtours 'The Dead Simple Positioning Move' along the Wherry Lines between Great Yarmouth and Norwich. As the name suggests, this one-way charter to Peterborough, via Norwich, Harwich and London, is in preparation for Uk Railtours charter the next day. This will work between Peterborough and the Bluebell Railway named 'A Simply Awkward Week Adventure', to celebrate the time of year between Christmas and New Year where nobody knows what day it is!
