The lead mines chimney at Ballycorus is the last remaining remnant of the lead mine opened in 1807 near Kilternan, Co. Dublin. Open cast mining for lead began around 1807 and then underground mining started in 1826. This continued until 1863. The chimney from the smelting works remains. This is a popular walking destination for the people of Dublin, and also ends my walk!

I couldn't think of a better title. I do like railings and fences and I don't know if that makes me a bit odd or not! =) If it does, then I think there are quite a few other odd people on flickr, hehe!

Marmion Shaft at the Bawdwin lead/zinc mine in north-east Myanmar. It was sunk in 1914 down to the sixth (adit) level at c700ft and was subsequently deepened to serve 14 levels in total to a depth of 1700ft. The winding house contains two electric winders manufactured at the Siemens Works of English Electric at Stafford in the UK in 1925. The ore is trammed out of the mine via a two mile adit known as "Tiger Tunnel".

Dawn Panorama. The view from Heron at dawn just before sunrise. With the sunrise panorama I had zoomed in more on the lake and sky. However in this shot I have emphasised more of the foreground and the lead in to the lake which was dominated by the rock outcrop on the left.
