It's The Only Way To Fly (9083)

The tail end of a B-52 aircraft, a Cold War relic all blown up and left to rot in the Mojave Desert for decades. Brandishing a flashlight capable of producing different colors, I illuminated the foreground while the tripod-mounted camera shutter was open for this long exposure photo. The streaks in the night sky are star trails created by the movement of the stars during the long exposure photo, accompanied by some beautiful high clouds this cold moonlit winter evening.

The Pillars of Rhyolite (8800)

The abandoned Porter Brothers General Store bracketed by pillars from a doorway long since crumbled in the Nevada desert as the stars of the night sky continue their celestial movements in Rhyolite, Nevada.

I lit the structure and "pillars" with warm white and red lights from a ProtoMachines LED2 handheld flashlight while the tripod-mounted camera's shutter stayed open in this long exposure image.

I met up with my friend Lance Keimig (National Parks At Night) and a beautiful group of people in DVNP. We went out late nights to photograph the amazing sites. Thanks, and feel free to share!

It's hard to believe that this time last year The Empress was covered in ivy. Apparently it was causing structural damage. What was amazing, is the scafolding over the summer that they put up had an empess cover, so it looked like this as soon as the scafolding went up. Impressive attention to detail.

La Luz De Cayucos (1021)

I spent a hazy winter night hanging out on the Pacific shore, listening to the sound crashing waves with the faint sounds of music from teenagers playing music while walking on the pier overhead, a beautiful way to spend a few minutes in this charming Central Coast beach town of Cayucos, the town name derived from the Chumash word for "kayak". I illuminating the right side of the pier with a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 flashlight while the shutter on my tripod-mounted camera was open. I set the tripod-mounted camera up on the wet sand and captured t the movement of the stars while the insistent waves blurred into a beautiful white glow, a period of ten minutes distilled into a single image.

I couldn't move this log, nor did I want to, but the ocean tossed it around like a toothpic to put it up on these rocks. Works for me, was great to catch the ocean crashing under it with the sureal solar flares on the top.
